Biography
Abed “Abed” Azel Yusop is one of the highest level players in Dota 2. The Filipino is the perennial leader of the MMR ladder. We introduce Abed’s journey as an Esports player.
Carier Start
Abed began his journey to Esport Olympus long before he entered the professional scene. From a young age, he attended computer clubs and spent a lot of time playing games. Abed’s skills showed even then, so it’s not surprising that he connected his further career with this activity.
The first team Abed played for was the MSI-EvoGT team. He joined the club in 2015. Abed showed pretty good results in small championships and quickly became one of the most promising players in the region. The team was later renamed Trackmate.
The first championship in which Abed appeared was MPLG – Season 7, where he was noticed by the Scout Execration.
He joined the Philippine organization in February 2016. Abed played for Execration from February 2016 to December this year. Although the team failed to achieve significant results, Abed was able to declare himself. In the wildcard tournament at The International 2016, he showed fantastic performances for heroes like Meepo and Invoker. In the match against Complexity Gaming, he finished the card with 18: 0 on Meepo. But Abed’s performance did not help Execration to advance to the main stage of the tournament.
In January 2017, Abed joined the team Onyx. He stayed in the team for 3 months, after which he switched to Digital Chaos.
DC and first success
Abed became a DC player in April 2017. With this club he managed to get to The International for the first time. At TI7, he and the team managed to get past the first round of the lower bracket, but lost to LGD Gaming. Performing at TI7 gave Abed’s career a boost.
Fnatic
After leaving DC in October 2017, he became a Fnatic player. Abed played for Fnatic between November 2017 and September 2019.
During this time, he and his team became the best team in the South Asian region. However, things did not go well in the international championships. Abed and his team finished 2nd at Dota Summit 8 and DreamLeague – Season 9. At ESL One Katowice 2018 and ESL One Birmingham 2018, the team finished in 4th place. The team also finished 3rd at DreamLeague – Season 11. At International 2019, Abed and Fnatic were eliminated in the first round lower net. TI9 was the last major tournament for a player with Fnatic.
EG and personal achievements
In September 2019, Abed joined Evil Geniuses. Back in December 2019, he and his team finished second at ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore as well as DreamLeague – Season 13. With Abed on the EG team, they are the best team in the Americas region.
Abed is the first player to reach the 11,000 MMR mark. During his career, the Esport player has earned $441,000 in prize money.
Dota 2
Dota 2Â is – unlike other big MOBA titles like League of Legends – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.
Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game micro-transactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.
