After the premiere tournament one year ago the DFB ePokal powered by ERGO 2022 into the second round. The best amateur and professional teams compete for the title of one of Germany’s most important FIFA competitions.

What is the DFB-ePokal?

The DFB-ePokal powered by ERGO is the official esport counterpart of the DFB Cup competition. In the game FIFA 22, Germany’s best players compete against each other on PlayStation 4 and 5 to determine who will lift the golden trophy in the end.

When will the DFB-ePokal take place?

FIFA’s top competition is already in full swing. After the qualifying tournaments from October to December 2021, in which all amateur teams were able to participate, the wheat was separated from the chaff in the preliminary round on March 5 and 6, 2022. 32 teams are still in the fight for victory.

The main round with the 32 best teams will be held on March 31 and April 1. Here the top 8 will qualify for the finals on April 2 (from 12pm) and April 3 (from 3pm).

Where to play?

The qualifier and preliminary rounds are basically played online. All amateur teams with Internet access can participate at the start of the DFB ePokal.

The main round and final will be held in April 2022. In this online event, the 32 best teams will compete against each other. In the final, the remaining eight teams will play for the title of DFB ePokal winner 2022.

How many teams/players:inside participate?

Each team consists of a minimum of three and a maximum of five players. They then play under the flag of a club. There are still 32 teams in the title race. These include last year’s winners Celtic Worms FC, which now competes under the name B360 Denzlingen, and the prominent FOKUS Clan with FIFA 19 world champion Mohammed “MoAuba” Harkous.

In which mode will be played?

All matches will be played in FUT mode. For the DFB-ePokal, the following guidelines for team composition apply when using the FUT mode:
Only players of the Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, 3. Liga and the following Heroes (Gomez, Ricken, Kohler) and Icons (Ballack, Klose, Lahm, Matthäus, Schweinsteiger, Raul, Van Nistelrooy, Okocha, Litmanen) are allowed.

There are no further restrictions for building your own team (e.g. only 3 players from one club or max. 2 icons per team). Each player can use his own team and change it in the current competition based on the defined conditions.

FIFA 22 on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5?

Before the main round even begins, all participants must indicate whether they want to play on the PS4 or PS5 version. Only if both sides in a pairing have selected PS5 will they play on the next-gen console.

Who will broadcast the tournament, who will commentate, who will host?

ProSieben MAXX will broadcast the final weekend of the tournament live on free TV. Throughout the tournament, esports.com and the DFB will report on the matches of the competition.

The DFB has its own Twitch channel “dfb_official” on which matches are broadcast. This is also how the previous qualifying tournaments were shown.

What is there to win?

The winning team will not only cheer on the DFB ePokal winner’s trophy, but will also pocket €25,000 in prize money. A total of 50,000 euros in prize money will be awarded by the DFB for the tournament. In addition, two players from the winning team will be called up to the German eNational team.
