Current Bosses: Players Struggle with Mega Nerfs

World of Warcraft takes the nerf club to the current raid. This time there are really heavy changes – up to 20% less health.

The Mausoleum of the First raid proved to be one of the hardest raids of all time in World of Warcraft. This was true not only for the mythic version in the “World First” raid, but also for the heroic and even the normal version. Even after more than 25 different nerfs, the bosses are still too hard for many players. That’s why Blizzard is now making amends and swinging the nerf club – harder than ever before in this raid.

What will be changed? Just saying “a whole lot” would probably be a significant understatement. The last 4 bosses in the Mausoleum will be massively weakened, health will be reduced by up to 20%, and many abilities will be much more forgiving in the future, allowing for mistakes without immediately failing the entire boss fight.

The changes in detail are:

  • Anduin
    • Anduin’s Hope and Anduin’s Doubt have 20% less health on Heroic and Normal difficulty.
    • Anduin’s Hope’s movement speed has been reduced by 15% on Normal and Heroic difficulty.
    • Gloomy Fate now only increases speed by 150% instead of 200% on Mythic difficulty.
  • Lords of Terror
    • Health reduced by 10% – on all difficulty levels.
    • Swarm of Decay and Swarm of Darkness deal 15% less damage on Heroic difficulty.
  • Rygelon
    • Health reduced by 10% – on all difficulty levels.
    • Dark Eruption damage reduced by 75% on Heroic difficulty.

WoW Jailer to baby title 1280x720

The Jailer was diligently generated further.

  • The jailer
    • Reduced health by 15% on normal and heroic difficulty.
    • Health has been reduced by 10% on mythic difficulty.
    • Azerite Radiance now increases damage by 7% per stack (previously 3% per stack).
    • Domination now triggers when players have 3 stacks of Tyranny (previously 2 stacks).
    • Decimator no longer triggers knockback on Heroic and Mythic difficulty.
    • Surging Azerite deals 15% less damage on Mythic difficulty.
    • Waving Azerite heals Azeroth by 5% per tick (previously 4%).
    • Damage from Rune of Doom reduced by 15% on all difficulty levels.
    • Rune of Domination is now cast 3 times during Phase 2 on Mythic difficulty (previously 4 times).
    • Rune of Compulsion absorbs 35% less damage on Heroic difficulty.
    • Shattering Eruption deals 20% less damage on all difficulty levels.
    • Chains of Torment cause 30% less damage on Mythic difficulty.
    • Domineering Will absorbs 15% less healing on Heroic and Mythic difficulty.
    • Chainbreaker deals 20% less damage on Heroic difficulty.

Why does Blizzard do this? The reason is not that Blizzard simply wants to do something good for the heroes and further “casualize” everything, as you often hear. Blizzard has simply noticed that significantly fewer players were able to successfully master the current raid. In the official WoW forum, it was therefore already said a few days ago by Community Manager Linxy:

We are working on additional adjustments, with a focus on the final fights in the Mausoleum. We know that currently significantly fewer guilds are able to achieve the “top” achievement. [„Cutting Edge“] than in previous raid tiers and we want to address this in the coming weeks before – Season 3 ends.

These changes will now go live and should ensure that the active raid groups can still get one or two achievements before the current – Season 3 is replaced by – Season 4 at the beginning of August.

When will the changes go live? All the nerfs will go live with the next maintenance, which is next Wednesday, July 6, 2022, so if you want to be able to brag a little that you made the current bosses “before the biggest nerf”, you better hurry – because time is running out.

What do you think of these changes? Is WoW “once again” getting way too easy? Or is it good to adjust the bosses when so far significantly fewer raid groups have been able to master them than planned?
