The 24 teams from all over the world that have qualified in the past weeks for the first Major of the year 2022 in “CS:GO” are competing for a prize pool of around 952,000 euros – half of which will go to the winning team alone. The winning team will also qualify directly for the BLAST Premier World Final and earn a large chunk of points for the ESL Pro Tour. In short, each of the participating teams has a good reason to want to lift the trophy to the sky on May 22, 2022 in the Sports Palace in Antwerp.

PGL Major 2022 Antwerp: format and dates
The competition can be divided into three phases:
- Challengers Stage – May 9 – 12, 2022
- Legends Stage – May 14 – 17, 2022
- Champions Stage – May 19 – 22, 2022
The teams that achieved Challengers and Contenders status during the qualifying stage will first compete in the Challengers Stage. Of the 16 teams, eight teams will remain at the end of the Stage. This stage is played in Swiss System with Buchholz scores. Matches are played in a regular best-of-1 format, but this expands to a best-of-3 when it comes to advancement or elimination.
The eight surviving teams will face the eight teams that qualified as Legends in the next stage. The mode here is identical to the Challengers Stage: eight quintets make it to the final round of the tournament, the Champions Stage. This is a simple single-elimination bracket with best-of-3 games seeded according to the final result of the Legends Stage.
