Group A of the current #EPL – Season almost saw a spectacular fall of the favorites: With NAVI one of the tournament favorites disgraced itself badly in the group stage. The team only just made it into the final round.
The team around superstar Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev got initially expected victories over Team Spirit (2:0) and Fnatic (2:1), but then the team shocked Endpoint not only the fans of NAVI, but the entire “CS:GO” scene: The team promoted from the Conference Stage to the EPL virtually dominated the Eastern Europeans at will in the common duel and delivered a clean 2:0 final result with 16:7 on Ancient and 16:10 on Dust II, which astonished the world of tactical shooter.
#NAVI narrowly saves itself for the final round
While this match was to remain the only win in Group A for Endpoint, it was the prelude to a series of bankruptcies for NAVI that were at least less clear-cut: Team Vitality and Ninjas in pajamas (NIP) each beat the 2021 dominators 2-1. NAVI’s somewhat more valiant resistance and the round-robin victories that came with it still ensured that the Ukrainian team advanced to the playoffs in third place despite being tied on points with Spirit and NIP.
For viewers – at least those without a NAVI logo over their hearts – this dramatic turn of events with Endpoint’s David vs. Goliath victory was a real spectacle. In this context, the entire lineup had to listen to quite a bit of criticism. Even “s1mple”, who can usually offer a few highlights during weak performances by the quintet, seemed just as lethargic as his colleagues this time.
Fans of the Ukrainian team must hope that the professionals will recover from this performance slump by the time of the final round. In the meantime, the recently strengthened Team Vitality remained undefeated and secured the group victory ahead of Fnatic.
The EPL’s 16th – Season continues with Group B on September 7, 2022 – when it will become clear whether the German quintet of BIG after the retirement of Titian “tiziaN” Feldbusch in a new constellation finally harmonized. In the BLAST Premier Fall 2022 groups, it didn’t look too good yet.
