The quintet of BIG bowed out early from – Season 16 of the EPL: Two wins from five games in Group B weren’t enough to secure the German team a spot in the finals. G2 Esports won the group undefeated, behind them FaZe Clan and Outsiders entered the play-offs.
BIG gives G2 a tough fight
After a 0:2 opening loss against Outsiders, BIG met G2 Esports and had a very tough duel with the internationally ranked squad. On Mirage as Vertigo it was so close that the overtime had to be used for the decision. Unfortunately, in both cases it was the Berlin team that drew the short straw – with 19:16 and 19:7 G2 decided the series in its favor. This put BIG in a precarious position for the rest of the group matches.
The team picked up 2-1 wins against both MIBR and FTW to keep their hopes of advancing alive. However, FaZe Clan awaited as the final opponent, eliminating BIG from the competition with a solid 2-0 win.
G2, FaZe and Outsiders thus join the top trio from Group A – Vitality, Fnatic and NAVI – in the final round. This is thus half filled.
Group C starts on September 14, 2022 and contains MOUZ, the final German team in this – Season of the EPL.
