#TylerSteinkamp “#Tyler1” is probably the craziest streamer on League of Legends. Having already managed an insane challenge in recent years, he now wants to reach the Challenger rank in Korea. In doing so, he lets chance decide his position.
What kind of challenge is this?
In his new project Tyler1 wants to achieve the rank Challenger in Korea. Only the 300 best players in Korea can get this rank. So that alone is a big challenge, because Korea is considered the strongest region in LoL.
However, he has built in another handicap. Because while most Challenger players are strong in one position in particular and have mastered it to the highest, Tyler1 wants to let chance decide which role is played – and in every single match.
That’s why he will always sign up as a “filler”. He won’t know which role he’ll get until the champion selection itself.
When does the Challenge start?
It starts at the end of April, when Tyler1 himself travels to Korea. He will be there for 30 days, which makes this Challenge a little crazier. He is traveling to Korea with a friend, but will only be playing SoloQ.
Tyler1 started as a one-trick pony, now reached Challenger in America at every position
Can he really pull it off?
Tyler1 has great ambition and consistently pursues his goals. So, the Twitch streamer has mastered every position in LoL by now and has also gained experience with SoloQ in Korea. Since he plays and streams LoL almost every day, he has completed a huge number of matches.
Still, this challenge won’t be easy to master, especially since he only has 30 days.
Has anyone done this before him?
It’s not entirely clear. There are Challenger players who deliberately choose the “replenish” position. However, none of them claim to have played from 0 to Challenger only via chance.
However, there are players who have achieved Challenger in all 5 positions, including Sweden’s Carl Felix “MagiFelix” Boström.
By the way, if you want to check out some of Tyler1’s achievements, here’s an interesting compilation by YouTuber Brendon Sims:
Known coach says even gold players will cause problems for Tyler1
Who has commented on the challenge?
Nick “LS” de Cesare is considered one of the most brilliant coaches in League of Legends. For many years he coached teams in Korea. However, he believes that Tyler1 will not make the Challenge (via YouTube):
I don’t think Tyler will make it. I don’t know how long he’s going to stay. The thing is that Tyler moved up because he is smarter than the NA players and also had an advantageous ping. In Korea, the problem is that the silver and gold players have better game mechanics than he is used to in his average games. They are still stupid, but are mechanically better.
Do you trust Tyler1 with this challenge or is LS right in his assessment? Will you watch the spectacle or do you have other favorite streamers for LoL?
