Team Information:
FaZe Clan’s journey on the CS: GO world stage began in early 2016, when the esports organization purchased the CS: GO roster from G2 Esports on January 20. According to the official statement, the European team cost the organization $700,000. At that time, FaZe Clan representatives were players such as Philip “aizy” Aistrup, Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad, Ricardo “Fuchs” Pacheco, Havard “Regen” Nygaard and Mikail “Maikelele” Bill.
The first LAN tournament with learning
FaZe Clan is a well-known North American multigaming. FaZe Clan squads are represented in 9 disciplines, and media coverage of the clubs is at the highest level. We present to you the history of the CSGO division of FaZe Clan.
First impression
FaZe Clan tag itself appeared back in 2010, then it was a regular guild in Call of Duty, but soon it developed into an organization and started active expansion. They came to СSGO FaZe in 2016. They made it loud and signed the entire G2 Esports roster. The first roster of the FaZe clan included:
- Maikelele
- Rain
- Fox
- jkaem
- aizy
- The potential deal was $700,000. Of course, FaZe management expected visible results, but it was not easy to wait for them.
The first period of FaZe Clan’s existence in CSGO was accompanied by constant losses and “average” results.
The first tournaments for the FaZe 5 were a complete failure. The team finished 9th-12th at the Global eSports Cup – – Season 1 – EU Group Stage No. 2, 5th-6th at DreamHack Open Leipzig 2016, 9th-12th at the first major tournament in the tag’s history – MLG Major – Championship: Columbus 2016.
After a series of setbacks, Maikelele left the team and was replaced by kioShiMa. FaZe played with this lineup until the end of the summer, after which the reshuffling began again.
Allu joined the team in place of Fuchs and Kariggan replaced kioShiMa. In the fall of 2016, kioShiMa returned to the roster and replaced jkaem.
As part of the constant shuffling within the team, FaZe actively participated in the championships but failed to achieve success.
In July, the team failed in the second major tournament and finished 9th-12th at ESL One: Cologne 2016. In the same period, it was 9th-10th place at ELEAGUE – Season 1. At the end of 2016 things started to improve The team finished 3-4th at iBUYPOWER Masters 2016, Intel Extreme Masters XI – Oakland and ELEAGUE – Season 2. In December 2016, FaZE managed to enter ELEAGUE Major: Atlanta 2017.
Dawn of FaZe Clan and best performances.
The failures began to dissipate in 2017. In January 2017, the team finished 5th-8th at ELEAGUE Major: Atlanta 2017, but in February, the team finished 9th-12th at DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017.
After DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017, FaZe Clan announces that NiKo, one of the most promising players of the time, will defend its colors. With the Bosnian player, the results increased.
In March 2017, FaZe stopped one step short of winning the Intel Extreme Masters XI – World Championship. In April, they scored their first big win by winning the StarLadder i-League StarSeries – Season 3.
In May 2017, FaZe finished second at Intel Extreme Masters XII – Sydney, after which they misfired at ESL Pro League – Season 5 – Europe, finishing in 7th place.
FaZe’s situation is corrected a month later after winning the Esports Championship Series – Season 3 – Europe and later finishing 2nd in the finals of the same Esports Championship Series – Season 3. In July 2017, FaZe Clan finishes 3-4th at ESL One: Cologne 2017, after which they will end up on the 15-16th line of PGL Major Krakow 2017.
Failure at the Major championship leads to further changes in the team. The place of allu is taken by GuardiaN, and the place of kioShiMa is taken by olofmeister. Already in September this composition bears fruit. They take first place at ESL One: New York 2017, are selected for EPICENTER 2017, and also win at ELEAGUE CS: GO Premier 2017.
At EPICENTER itself, the team finishes 5th-6th, but wins the Esports Championship Series – Season 4 – Finals at the end of the year. In January 2018, FaZe Clan team finished 2nd at ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 after holding one of its best meetings against Cloud9. Although this shook FaZe, the team continued to perform confidently in the international arena.
After Boston 2018, FaZe finished 4th at StarLadder & i-League StarSeries – Season 4 and then 3rd at Intel Extreme Masters XII – World Championship. In May 2018, the team won Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Sydney, but without Olofmeister, who was out for several months since April due to a hand injury. He returned to the active squad already in May. However, the esport player soon missed another major championship, which turned out to be ESL Pro League – Season 7. As a result, olof became active until July 2018.
In September, the team competes in FACEIT Major: London 2018, but can not repeat the success of Boston. In London, FaZe finishes in 5th to 8th place. In October of the same year, FaZe won EPICENTER 2018, the last major victory of the year.
2019-2020 Year
2019 was not a very successful year for the international composition of the FaZe clan. The team won the ELEAGUE CS: GO Invitational 2019, but then the results left much to be desired. In February 2019, the team finished 5th-8th at Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Katowice Major, 9th-11th at StarSeries & I-League CS: GO – Season 9, 9th-12th at Intel Extreme Masters XIV – Sydney. Lumen was seen in the BLAST tournaments, where FaZe consistently performed well, finishing 1st in BLAST Pro Series: Miami 2019 and 2nd in BLAST Pro Series: Los Angeles 2019.
However, FaZe failed to win StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 in August 2019, where he finished 12th to 14th. In 2019, the last tournament won was BLAST again, this time BLAST Pro Series: Copenhagen 2019.
Changes followed in September. GuardiaN and NEO left the team. The second stayed in FaZe for a short time. They were replaced by Coldzera and Broky.
At the beginning of 2020, the roster looked like this:
- Rain
- Olofmeister
- Coldzera
- Broky
The fifth player kept changing, but in the end Kjaerbye joined the team only in August 2020. NiKo also left the team and became a G2 Esports player. With the transition to the online format, FaZe Clan showed rather “average” results. The team quietly finished 3rd at DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: Europe and BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Finals, but failed completely at ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online and ESL Pro League – Season 12: Europe, finishing 9th-12th and 13th-14th respectively.
The best result for 2020 for FaZe was winning Intel Extreme Masters XV – New York Online: Europe.
Organization and awards
FaZe Clan was founded by Timid, CLipZ and Resistance and Lee Trink is the CEO. Coldzera wears the captain armband and RobbaN is the CSGO roster manager.
FaZe Clan works with a variety of well-known brands including: G Fuel, Scuf Gaming, SteelSeries, Nissan, HTC Gaming, Wix.com, Machester City, CTRL and Verizon.
Since its inception, the CSGO division has generated over $3,600,000 in prize money for the organization.
DreamHack Open Leipzig 2016 became FaZe Clan with a prize pool of $100,000. There, the team finished in 5th-6th place and received only US$3,000, which was a disappointing result for the organization. The next LAN tournament for Europeans was the Intel Extreme Masters X – World Championship with a prize pool of 250,000 US dollars. Here FaZe Clan reached the 7th-8th place and received a cash prize of 7,000 US dollars. The next championship with FaZe participation was the first major tournament of 2016, MLG Columbus 2016, where the Europeans also performed rather poorly, finishing 9th-12th and receiving US$8,750 as a reward. Over the next 9 months, FaZe Clan looked for a way to improve its results and repeatedly made changes to its CS: GO roster to relieve some players of their responsibilities to the organization and sign up new Esport players. From the first lineup, only Havard “Rain” Nygaard was in the team, and on October 19, 2016, Captain Karrigan joined the team, who is still the leader of the lineup in the game.
At the end of 2016, the Europeans finally managed to achieve a good result. In the second ELEAGUE – Season , they managed to finish 3-4 and get a good prize of $60,000. A week later in the second – Season of the Esports Championship Series they took 5-6 places and received a cash prize the size of $45,000.
Five months later, in April 2017, FaZe Clan lifted its first trophy over its head and won the StarLadder i-League StarSeries – Season 3, which was made possible by the transfer of Bosnian talent to the ranks of FaZe Clan. According to official data, the cost of NiKo’s purchase from mousesports was $500,000, although initially there were rumors of a price of $1,000,000. In 2017, FaZe Clan was repeatedly runner-up in tournaments, especially in such competitions as Intel Extreme Masters XI – World Championship (44,000 USD), Intel Extreme Masters XII – Sydney (40,000 USD), Esports Championship Series – Season 3 – Final (120,000 USD)., Intel Extreme Masters XII – Oakland (54,000 USD), ESL Pro League – Season 6 – Final (100,000 USD). The successes in ECS – Season 3 finals can be seen in a special way from this list. There FaZe reached the finals in the old squad, where they almost defeated SK Gaming in a Bo3 battle, which was the strongest team in the world at that time.
In August 2017, FaZe Clan significantly improved their squad, adding players like GuardiaN and Olofmeister, who represent the organization to this day. The new team bore its first fruits within a month. At ESL One New York 2017 with a prize pool of $250,000, FaZe takes first place after receiving the main cash prize of $125,000. After three weeks, they become winners of the European qualifier for ELEAGUE CS: GO Premier 2017, whose prize pool was US$1,000,000, and on October 13, 2017, the Europeans lifted the ELEAGUE CS: GO Premier 2017 Cup over their heads. Thanks to their efforts, the team received the top prize of $500,000 and ranked first in the list of the best CS: GO squads in the world, according to HLTV.org. However, after a few weeks, FaZe lost the title of the best team to the Brazilians from SK Gaming.
2018 proved to be quite fruitful for FaZe. In the first major tournament, FaZe Clan reached the finals and was defeated in a battle against Cloud9. Two months later, they became runners-up at Intel Extreme Masters XII – World Championship after receiving $100,000 for their efforts. At Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Sydney and ESL One: Belo Horizonte 2018, the Europeans managed to become champions. They also won prizes in a number of other tournaments. In February and March, according to HLTV.org, FaZe Clan occupied the first place in the world rankings, but then lost the lead to players from Astralis.
The esports organization recently made a brand change, with the logo and player kits focused on red. Currently, the total earnings of the FaZe clan exceed USD 2,500,000, and the CS: GO roster of this organization is rightly considered one of the best in the world.
