Convert Torghast to a dungeon?

WoW: Shadowlands launched with a lot of ambitions back in the day. Obviously too many ambitions. The current expansion had a lot of features, but very few of them were really convincing. Whether it was pacts, Legendarys, loot or grind – at the beginning, only little fit into Shadowlands. It wasn’t until the end that most of the features were polished to the point where they could be fun.

To a certain extent, this is also true for Torghast. The Tower of the Dungeon Master suffered mainly from the fact that it became a mandatory weekly event for every halfway ambitious player. If you wanted your Legendarys, you had to fight your way through the various wings. Added to this was the sheer length of the individual wings and the lack of motivation to even set foot in them outside of the forced visits.

WoW Dragonflight: In Ohn’ahran you may raise a new mount!

We are allowed to raise another mount in WoW Dragonflight, this time the Thunderback Lizi. We explain in the guide what you have to do for it.

WoW WotLK: Retrospective – Taliesin, Mana in the backpack and co. remember

On September 27, 2022, the Classic re-release of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King will launch, as we all know. In a retrospective trailer, Blizzard now lets various content creators from the WoW ecosystem, such as Taliesin, Manu from Mana im Rucksack, CruellaDK, Zoltan, Wochi or even Andi from Manacrew, reminisce about Northrend. Here’s the full nostalgia broadside!

The environments were cool, the enemies fun

Yet the actual core of Torghast wasn’t the problem at all. Because not only were there some really cool bosses waiting in there, but also a whole bunch of trash mobs similar to those in WoW’s dungeons. (buy now ) are in no way inferior. For my part, I would even say that most of the enemies in Torghast were significantly cooler than what awaited us in the mists of Tirna Scithe, Plaguefall and Co.

Then why not do the obvious and just make some cool dungeons out of the many wings of Torghast? Blizzard has been on a recycle spree for quite some time anyway. Since Cataclysm they’ve been putting completely reworked and rebuilt dungeons into the game, for example Scholomance, Karazhan or Zul’Gurub. Later, the dungeons were only adapted in places.

That’s what happened with Storming the Violet Fortress, for example. And with Shadowlands now, old dungeons came back as Mythic-Plus variants, where only the scaling was adjusted.

So the Blizzard developers obviously want to provide a lot of up-to-date content with little effort. Of course, we’d all rather have completely new dungeons – but it’s still better than getting nothing for a long time.

Torghast Dungeons – Easy Frag

The wings of Torghast could be converted to dungeons with almost as little effort. A little work here and there on balancing and positioning the mobs and off you go. The Anima bonuses would have to be removed, but could remain integrated in a weakened form similar to the affix from – Season 2 – comparable in strength to the weapons of the Necrotic Aisle.

Of course, you don’t have to and shouldn’t just blindly take all the wings and convert them. But there are some that would certainly have their appeal. Let’s think of the Adamant Vault or the Soul Forges. And the bosses could possibly even be rotated. Each visit (or rather each ID) different bosses in different orders. The principle of the Violet Fortress taken to the extreme, so to speak.

Doesn’t make sense? LoL, who cares?

Of course, there would be some downsides. For Dragonflight, Torghast would probably still be too fresh and negative in most players’ minds for them to have fun in it in a Mythic-Plus dungeon. And of course there’s the question of how you’re going to explain the return of Torghast story-wise.

The latter, however, is just a question we’re asking. The developers have shown with the selection of Mythic-Plus dungeons in – Season 4 and Dragonflight – Season 1 that it doesn’t really matter if the Mythic-Plus dungeons fit anything else. And when in doubt, you can make anything fit. We travel to wherever and explain the horrors of the Maw to that person and bang: dungeon built in. The dungeons in the Caves of Time weren’t explained much better.

Can you imagine us seeing Torghast again in WoW at some point? Or has the forced grind permanently burned the entire feature for you and you never want to set foot in the endless tower again? Which old features should be allowed to make a comeback in your eyes?
