This is the situation:

• Call of Duty was never known for its superior communication. But over the course of 2021, it got better.
• With the emergence of the Activision/Blizzard scandal in the second half of the year, the trend gradually reversed. There was less official info again.
• Around the holidays and the turn of the year there were many problems in Warzone and Vanguard. Even now the shooters are not in a good condition.
• Now there was a statement about the current situation.

Call of Duty addresses community

After a good month of silence, Call of Duty executives turn to the community with a statement.

On Twitter, the official “Call of Duty” channel posted the following message:

In the English version, the developers write “We hear you”. The responsible parties inform that they know about the current grievances in the CoD shooters Warzone, Vanguard and also CoD MW (2019) and the development teams are working on solutions as soon as possible.

They write that they can feel the frustration and are working hard to bring fixes and updates. They welcome feedback and see player opinions as a critical part of the development process.

What do players say? The reactions are not clear-cut. What many player statements have in common, however: Emotion. In contrast to many comments in recent weeks, which tended toward indifference, you can almost feel how important this statement was at the current time.

Many well-known content creators have commented on the tweet and welcome the communication. However, they also make it clear that action must now follow:

• PrestigeIsKey (YouTube) on Twitter: “The game’s constant problems need to be fixed, but transparency would make it better.”
• HunterTV (YouTube) on Twitter: “Thanks for confirming that Call of Duty is broken. But actions speak louder than words.”
• Jack “CouRage” Dunlop even spontaneously posted a video with his thoughts. He briefly explained what his problem with Warzone is and what he thinks of the current zombie mode. But also says, “It’s important to show people that they are heard and loved” (via Twitter).

The normal gamers are partly less diplomatic. Although there are positive reactions to the statement, many point the finger at problems that are not addressed by the developers.

Overall, a positive impression comes across. But there is also a lot of frustration and skepticism.

Call of Duty continues to work on the lousy conditions in its shooters. It remains to be seen whether the mood of the community can be saved. But many see a ray of hope in the latest statements.
