If you believe the leaks, the presentation of the new Call of Duty 2021 could be imminent – maybe even again in CoD: Warzone. Now the developers are also pouring oil into the speculation fire and distribute small teasers under Content Creator, in which apparently locations for a possible “CoD Vanguard” can be seen.
What is it about? August is halfway done and so far the unveiling of the new Call of Duty 2021 is still a long time coming. As in 2020, the developers are taking their time with the unveiling of the latest CoD, but slowly something is happening.
Over the weekend, 4 teasers for the new Call of Duty have surfaced, highlighting the “World War II” setting and showing hints of possible locations for the latest CoD, which is probably called “Vanguard”. MeinMMO shows you the 4 clips.
Teaser 1 – The Western Front
The first clip shows the familiar image of a European forest in 5 seconds and is a clear reference to the Western Front. A sign with German lettering “ACHTUNG” and a broken signpost reading “Merville” indicates that Vanguard has a setting in France – sometime after the German Reich took over. At Merville was a large Nazi artillery battery that was destroyed after the Allied landings in Normandy during Operation Tango.
Teaser 2 – The Eastern Front
Things get cooler in clip number 2. Russian content creators were sent this clip, which hints at the Eastern Front. You can see a destroyed house, possibly near a train station. As the camera takes a step back, you can see that the angle is from the house across the street. Then a sniper rifle can be seen with a name carved on it: Petrova.
This is already the second teaser with a Soviet sniper. At the end of a warzone match you can currently see a female sniper preventing one of your colleagues from evacuating.
Teaser 3 – Africa Front
The 3rd teaser brings the battles for northern Africa into play. When the Axis forces launched the first operations in Africa, the United Kingdom expected the Nazis to invade the British Isles. As a result, the main force could not be moved and the British had to rely on help from the Commonwealth. Troops from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and British India were massing in the Middle East to fight the Axis. The teaser came appropriately from Australian content creators.
Teaser 4 – Pacific Front
The last teaser so far probably shows the Pacific front. Destroyed American planes are seen on a beach. The writing “No Guts, No Glory” (He who dares not, wins not) can be seen on a tattered airman’s jacket. In the Pacific, Americans in particular are fighting Japanese troops over smaller and larger islands. Even before that, leaked images of the Ultimate Edition gave hints of battles in the Pacific region.
Task Force Vanguard – Is this about the story?
Each teaser briefly features “Task Force Vanguard” patches:
It’s possible that the story of the new CoD will revolve around this unit, which seems to have its fingers in the pie on every front. This would be an interesting scenario for the campaign, which sends us to different locations of World War II as a member of the Vanguard squad.
Whether CoD 2021 is actually called Vanguard and how this squad fits into the game cannot be said for sure at the moment. But the info is getting more concrete and a reveal shouldn’t be long in coming.
Last year at this time there was the reveal of Cold War – on August 20 came the first teaser, which officially confirmed the name and setting. It’s quite possible that Vanguard will ride a similar schedule.
