All information on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

You missed the big CoD Next event? No problem, we tell you what news there were about Modern Warfare II.

On September 15 at 6:30 pm, it finally started. The livestream on Twitch and YouTube ushered in the CoD Next showcase event for : Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0. We summarize for you what you missed in terms of Modern Warfare II.

Marathon Event

The CoD Next event lasted a whopping five hours, with over 200 well-known streamers and CoD influencers presenting the latest from Call of Duty to the community. In case you didn’t make it through the marathon event, we’ll summarize all the important information for you here.

To open the event, the audience was shown a new trailer for MWII and Warzone 2.0. After that, new features, forge, maps and modes of Modern Warfare II were presented.

This was shown

Movement

Modern Warfare II can boast a whole range of new features. As has been suspected for a while, we can finally swim in the new Call of Duty. In a short player, we can take a closer look at the fights on and under water and get a first impression of the new mechanics. Another new feature is the ability to shimmy on ledges, roofs and the like. However, just like underwater, we can only use our pistol to defend ourselves.

The most surprising innovation in Movement is probably the new third-person mode. Both in Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 it will be possible to change the perspective in the future. Whether the new view will be available in an exclusive mode or we will be able to change the perspective at any time is still unclear.

Gadgets

Modern Warfare II will feature various new gadgets that we can use to confuse and trick our opponents. A few of them were presented in a short video. Among other things, a mine was shown that, when triggered, inflates a kind of airbag that imitates a player. The “DDoS device”, which disables enemy electronic devices for a short time, is also new. In total, there are about 13 field upgrades that we can choose from.

Weaponry

Even before the CoD Next event, the developers have introduced the new Weaponry. We have already written a comprehensive article about it, in which you can read all the innovations.

Maps

Since both Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 were developed at the same time, they also share various maps or areas of the Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale map. In addition to the classic 6 vs. 6 maps, Modern Warfare II will also feature massive 32 vs. 32 maps where we can drive around with vehicles like tanks, troop carriers and all sorts of jeeps, ATVs, etc. Sarif Bay is one of these large “battle maps” that remind us of a Battlefield in the CoD universe.

The new map Mercado Las Almas

On the larger maps, there will also be AI-controlled enemies that defend certain areas. The traditional 6 vs. 6 mode, on the other hand, offers fast action on much smaller maps. So far, Museum, Farm 18, Mercado Las Almas and Grand Prix have been presented.

Modes

In addition to the typical Call of Duty modes, there will also be three new game variants – “Knockout”, “Invasion (Ground War)” and “Prisoner Rescue”, among others. Another mode called “Raid” has been announced, but it will only appear after the release.

Knockout

Knockout is a turn-based game mode that combines classic Call of Duty with Warzone. Two teams fight over a bag of money, which is placed in the middle of the map at the beginning. Whoever holds the bag for 60 seconds or finishes off the opposing team wins the round. But beware, whoever is holding the bag will show up on the enemy radar. Players are not killed immediately, as in Warzone, but merely “gedowned” and can be revived.

Invasion (Ground War)

You prefer it big, loud and brute? Tactical action is only an option for you when your tank is out of ammunition? Then Invasion mode is just the thing for you. In these massive 20 vs. 20 TDM battles you can use everything in your arsenal. Tanks, helicopters and killstreaks will help you decide the round for your team. Additionally, each side is supported by AI-controlled fighters.

The new Invasion mode features massive battles with vehicles and AI opponents.

Prisoner Rescue

As the name suggests, in this mode we have to rescue a hostage. This mode is also turn-based and is divided into attackers versus defenders. The winner is the one who eliminates all his opponents or rescues the hostage. There are no respawns, but your team members can revive you.

Raid

So far, little is known about this new game mode. So far, we only know that it will be a three-player PvE mode reminiscent of the raids from Destiny 2. The mode is supposed to offer a mixture of puzzles and battles, in which strategy and teamwork will be crucial.

PlayStation preferred

For PlayStation users, there was then a special treat at the end. Pre-orderers of the PlayStation version of Modern Warfare II will receive the exclusive operator skin “Oni” and blueprints for a weapon. Both are available in Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.
