Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II surprises us in its world premiere: We jump from car to car like in Fast & Furious. Rappel headfirst down skyscrapers like in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning. Throwing knives and diving deep to dodge bullets in the war against Mexican cartels: Call of Duty 2022 in its world premiere.
Night falls, stars show in the sky, the sea is wild on the Gulf of Mexico: Soap MacTavish is hit in the face by the rain, next to him stands very cool Simon “Ghost” Riley at the MG 42. Grappling hooks out, up to the first level of an oil rig. 3,2,1 – the first sentry posts fall. With surgical precision, the elite unit works its way through the waves of enemies in this mission, which makes us think right back to the first Modern Warfare. The scenery is even a bit more atmospheric – for example, when we sneak through a room that is only flooded with red light and we only discover the enemy at the last second, who probably wanted to shoot us in the head when we entered the room. Our unit is flanked by the Shadow Company led by Phillip Graves, a private military company that provides its specialists to CIA agent Laswell, who works closely with Captain Price’s team as part of the SAD program.
Hmm, the Shadow Company are those mercenaries who helped General Shepherd in his coup against Task Force 141 back in the day, the story offers potential for a powder keg. Al Quatala seems to have hired Mexican cartels to exact revenge on the US with missile strikes after an assassination attempt on one of their generals. CoD veterans will now think: Okay, Ghost was tortured in Mexico, a Mexican cartel killed his family. I wonder if that’s connected. Because they made the murders look like he was the culprit – hence the mask. But back to the gameplay: What is immediately noticeable is that the sound design is fantastic. Our own weapons are silenced, which makes the pattering rain that slams onto the roof of a cabin, for example, all the more atmospheric. Sound becomes quieter and more distorted when it penetrates from the inside out, for example during the assault on the command center of the oil rig.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
is much more about authenticity instead of the classic Hollywood bombast. The grenades thrown by the enemy explode all the more forcefully and reverberate in the steel corridors. Time is running out once again, terrorists are already positioning a missile that will come out of the converted roof of the oil platform. The Dark Water level is much more open than otherwise known from the series – there are different ways to the mission object, for example on the flanks of containers, in the middle or via a ladder in sniper position. However, things get really exciting when we provide support for units under fire on a neighboring container ship via speedboat. The containers slide back and forth, if we want cover, we have to follow in a sideways step or push hard forward, the 2022 CoD leaves us the choice here.
Overall, there are significantly more options, such as jumping from containers to higher positions and surprising the enemy: shotgun out, yippie-ka-yay, piggyback. But the 2022 Call of Duty has a few more surprises in store, some missions make us think of Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible with a big grin. There are also scenes in which our protagonists jump from car to car, as if the developers had watched a lot of Fast & Furious. The car comes with a lot of mechanics anyway: You can shoot out left and right, fire at tires to make them pop, or blow open the doors of enemy vehicles. Which looks damn good, thanks to new CoD engine that Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games will also use in the future.
ATTENTION:
We are aware that due to the war in Ukraine, a game with a military focus could be met with controversy. Nevertheless, we consider Call of Duty too important a release to forgo coverage. We ask for your understanding.
Call of Duty 2022 gets a new next-gen engine
The 2022 Call of Duty looks really awesome: There’s a foam simulation as the speedboats rush through the waves and create wake. If the team dives, the light is refracted in the water and the cool water itself gets murkier the deeper they go. It’s a real mechanic: If fire is opened on us, we can dive very deep, dodging bullets and making it harder for enemies to target us. Infinity Ward prides itself on its new ballistics, which simulate things like how the cool water slows down the speed of a bullet – so yes, with special weapons we can take aim at targets underwater. Every piece of equipment also generally interacts with the blue element: the stun grenade has buoyancy and rises to the surface. A proximity mine in the water floats up – so if you let it rise from deep below, it can be used efficiently against patrol boats.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II also plays a lot more with lens flares on a technical level, such as in its Night War mission. This begins in a Sikorsky Super Stallion, only very discreetly illuminated in green, flying through the sky before being shot down a few meters away by a lightning-bright mortar. The team is tasked with recovering the crew. As Task Force 141 fights its way through a series of small rooms and open fields, the mission veers between pitch black darkness and blindingly bright light in an artistically exciting style that is visually disorienting and creates plenty of atmosphere. There are outright horror scenes here, such as when the team faces a wall of fire at night as the helicopter comes under rocket fire from all sides during the recovery operation.
Fans of the last Modern Warfare will be happy to know that Night War includes a long section with night vision, similar to the popular “Clean the House” mission of the SAS from 2019’s Modern Warfare. However, Infinity Ward wants to minimize the use of civilians and punish their firing with mission cancellation – in Clean the House there was a point deduction, but it was accepted as a military tool. It must be generally difficult for developers right now to weigh how far their shooters can go, after all, there is a real war raging out there right now.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II not infrequently feels like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible
The 2022 Call of Duty has had a lot of development time and you can feel it. Infinity Ward’s mission design feels fresh and bright, such as in Tower, which is almost a bit reminiscent of Mission Impossible. At the side of the Ghost, we work our way feet up, head down over the facade of a skyscraper. In other words, we play complete scenes upside down. On the way down, the game lets us switch again and again, and each of the positions offers different advantages and disadvantages.
You can switch between the two methods on the way down – which you should, because each has its own advantages and disadvantages. And much like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, we can also lean out of the car left and right to fire specifically at the vulnerable tires of armored SUVs. Or we can use armor-piercing ammunition to blow the doors off. If we succeed, we swing onto the roof, jump onto the other car, swing in, knock out the driver and take over the wheel ourselves. Just like Dominic Torreto or Ethan Hunt would do.

Did you know that ……. ???
Armies Call of Duty – Red army
The Red Army (Russian: Красная Армия) is a Russian military force from World War II. It therefore appears in Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Black Ops. The elite Red Army unit from Call of Duty: Black Ops is the 3rd Assault Squad.
Heroes Call of Duty –Davis (Black Ops)
Private Davis was an American Army helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War. In 1968, he was flying a helicopter that included Frank Woods and Alex Mason, but was shot down while flying over North Vietnam. When shot down, Davis died instantly, while his co-pilot was seriously injured. A Viet Cong then attacked the helicopter and killed the co-pilot as well.
Weapons Call of Duty-KS-23
The KS-23 is a pump-action shotgun from Call of Duty: Black Ops, used solely in the campaign alone. It is unusable in multiplayer and in survival combat. The KS-23 is first seen in the hands of Cuban soldiers during the Operation 40 mission, as they try to defend Fidel Castro’s compound. The player can pick up the weapon from any soldier who has used it.
Games Call of Duty 3
Call of Duty 3 is a 2006 first-person shooter video game developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It is the third major installment in the Call of Duty series. It was released for PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It was a launch title for the PlayStation 3 and Wii in North America, Europe and Australia.
Maps Call of Duty – Bailout
Bailout is a large multiplayer map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that appeared with the Stimulus map pack. The map is set on a large apartment complex in the United States, where players storm through the blocks and associated parking lots. There are large fields of vision, narrow hallways and elevated positions. Because of this, combat varies greatly. If you’re in a building, the shooting is probably face-to-face, but in the surrounding streets, the combat plays out at a wide variety of distances. Many of the buildings and apartments are interconnected, and it’s possible to traverse the entire map without setting foot outside. The map Bloc from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has been used quite a bit.
Camouflage Call of Duty – Ice camouflage
Ice provides the equipped weapon with a white appearance and adds some blue spots meant to resemble snow. This camouflage is often seen on enemy weapons, especially the Famas in the Mass Destruction mission. You can use this camouflage well on snowy maps like Summit or Array. It’s also useful on Grid and WMD, but not quite as effective as there’s a lot of normal ground to be seen there as well.
Fraction Call of Duty Black Ops
The Black Ops are a multiplayer faction in Call of Duty: Black Ops. They are elite CIA agents.
