Call of Duty 2022 will reportedly be a direct sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare and could simply be called Modern Warfare II.
That a new Call of Duty will also be released in 2022 should be as certain as the proverbial Amen in the church. In the meantime, the indications of what could come to us, although actually only once… CoD Vanguard is on the way. Now there are fresh speculations and supposed leaks about the maps of the next Call of Duty but one. Possibly Afghan, Highrise, Favela and Terminal as well as other fan favorites from CoD Modern Warfare 2 will return.
Call of Duty 2022 could bring back multiplayer maps from Modern Warfare 2
What it’s about: Meanwhile, all the leaks, rumors, and speculations that CoD 2022 will be a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare are heating up. It is even said to be simply called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (to Confusion with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to be excluded, of course).
New possible map leak: After an alleged insider report about next year’s Call of Duty recently made the rounds, there is now already the next leak. It seems to confirm once again what was already suspected and seems unsurprising. Call of Duty 2022 is said to bring back classic multiplayer maps from the original Modern Warfare 2.
These are said to be the following maps:
- Afghan
- Highrise
- Terminal
- Favela

In what form exactly how these maps will return in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is not revealed. Both the individual comeback in multiplayer and a joint return in the form of a new, large warzone map would be conceivable. Strictly speaking, no statement is made at all in this tweet here, but the hashtag in combination with these four images still speaks volumes, of course. It would also fit in with the latest Modern Warfare 2 map leak:
How serious is this? Somewhat. MW2 OG aka TheMW2Ghost has made correct predictions about Call of Duty several times in the past and has made a name for himself as a leaker. As mentioned, it also fits well with the rest of the rumors as well as Activision’s actions so far and therefore sounds realistic. Nevertheless, you should still take this with a grain of salt until it’s official.

Before Call of Duty 2022 is released sometime next year, Call of Duty Vanguard is coming our way first. The current shooter from Activision Blizzard is once again set in World War II and will be released tomorrow, November 5. As usual, the story campaign, zombies co-op and a lot of multiplayer action are on board. Among other things, this will also affect CoD Warzone: In the Battle Royale, the Verdansk map will soon be replaced by a Pacific theater with aircraft replaced.
