As a new customer, you are also granted an insurance of up to 10 € for a lost combination bet with five or more parts, in which only one prediction was wrong.

Is there a welcome bonus for new customers? The casino bonus up to €3500 with 35 times play through cannot be used for sports betting. Therefore, unfortunately, you will not receive a sports betting bonus for the first deposit.
Is there a loyalty program? Yes, but only for casino games. Here you collect points with every bet, which you can use for cashback and through which you can reach higher levels. Sports betting is excluded.
How does the ACCA insurance work? You should place your first sports bet as a combination bet consisting of five individual bets with odds from 1.50 for at least 5 €. If you only lose by a small margin, i.e. you have four games right and one wrong, you will receive a refund of the bet (maximum 10 €).
How is the Leo win boost calculated? If you win a combined bet, the winning amount (including the stake) is calculated first. Then, depending on the number of games, 2 to 50% will be added up.

Betting offer

Although White Lion, operated by Topia, also appears as White Lion Bets, you are dealing with a casino provider here. When you open the homepage, you will find a lot of slots and various links to casino games, but there is no dedicated sports betting section. Instead, White Lion offers you its betting offer through the back door, in that you have to click on the red menu item “Sports” in the casino selection, where “Sports Betting” appears like another slot machine. With this supposed casino app, you then reach White Lion’s betting offer on the only way.

Limited betting selection with the most necessary
What you then find, however, is the usual view of an online betting provider. Here, unfortunately, it is immediately noticeable that White Lion actually operates its betting section as an additional offer and presents you with correspondingly few betting options. There are only about 15 sports, so your betting routine is limited to the usual mix of soccer, ice hockey, basketball or handball. So there are no bets on sports off the main stream here, no e-sports and no fun bets. When there is a lot going on in the sports world, White Lion then already comes up with a few 1000 events and in soccer with over 100 betting markets per match, but elsewhere you will get significantly more. For casual bettors who come more for the casino, this may be enough, but the ambitious bettors may quickly get a bit bored.

Live bets

Accordingly, the live betting offer at White Lion is low, but on Bundesliga Saturdays, there are already enough games available here. What we noticed in our White Lion experience, however, is the lack of difference to the prematch bets. You can switch the offer on the top left to “Live” and then also see the games that are currently running, but hardly anything has changed. You are shown the current minute of the match and the score and the odds fluctuate in real time, of course, but there are no statistics, events on the pitch or even a mini pitch.

What makes live betting more attractive is your ability to cancel bets at any time for a certain amount. This way you can minimize losses or secure small winnings. In the betting provider comparison, a look at the odds is of course of enormous importance. The odds key tells you how much you have to pay to the house on average, i.e. how lucratively you can bet here. In the White Lion test, we unfortunately found almost only weak odds between 88 and 89%. You can find such values elsewhere, but then mainly for less popular sporting events with hardly any stakes and thus a high uncertainty for the provider. White Lion hardly ever provided us with acceptable percentages, even though it can also go into competitive regions for prominent soccer matches.

Usual procedure for withdrawals
Withdrawals at White Lion are also subject to government regulations, have to be checked by hand and therefore take longer than deposits. You have to prove your identity once before your winnings are paid out via the previously used deposit channels. You have no influence on this and if the transfer is not possible, the bank transfer is always the means of choice. White Lion does not charge any fees on one withdrawal per month, but may pass on any fees charged by the service providers to you. From the second withdrawal in the same month, € 5 will be due.

Payouts slow and only available from 100 €
So, all of this runs completely standard for the industry at White Lion, but two things are voluntarily chosen to your disadvantage. Firstly, White Lion takes five days for processing by default, which elsewhere also works within hours or a maximum of three days. The runtime via bank transfer is then another five business days, via credit card even ten. On the other hand, White Lion severely restricts the amounts. Each payout is only possible from €100 and limited to a total of €5,000 per month. This is therefore at the expense of both recreational and high roller players.

Reputation & Security

Even if we are not convinced by the betting offer, we can recommend White Lion as a provider. We do not see any evidence of dishonest behavior here. White Lion Bets is licensed in Curacao and therefore has to fulfill advantageous conditions for you. The entire offer is SSL-encrypted and above all the money transfers are carried out via secure service providers. You will be briefly informed about data protection, fair play and addiction prevention, but the sports terms and conditions and the separate terms and conditions are comprehensive and without surprising clauses. Only on the subject of betting tax, which will be described in more detail later, is White Lion of the minority opinion that this does not exist for a provider in Curacao. Legally, you are currently moving in quite a gray area, and White Lion may not even be completely wrong. More serious, however, would be the precautionary levy and then the ordinary legal action against the obligation.

Service & Support

White Lion’s customer service can be reached via e-mail and contact form as usual. The response time is pleasingly good. If you want to deliver your request personally, you can call Cyprus between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. and ask for a German-speaking employee. The live chat is also available in German, but takes a break between 3 and 6 o’clock. Of course, this is almost always enough, but the three hours might have been present. Our own White Lion experiences are not quite as rosy in this case, but we cannot draw any general conclusions from this. The various support staff in the chat were all friendly and wanted to help, but too often did not fully understand us in terms of content, did not know everything and then dodged to bonus information.

Functions & Design

Modern design with awkward font
Like many new sports betting providers, White Lion appears straightforward and clearly structured. The mascot of the site is the white lion Lionel, which you can find on practically every subpage and which appears quite likeable and dynamic. The background is white, the elements are pleasantly kept in a medium blue, only the font gives us grief. This is based on US sports and is wonderfully suitable for headlines and slogans. In longer texts, however, the small caps are too hard to read and also not really serious. A neutral font is used for sports betting.

In terms of handling, it should be said that some help text and account management appear somewhat unnecessary via pop-up window, but you can otherwise get through the offer well. The sports betting “app” unfortunately sometimes doesn’t load right away, and since it’s located above the page, you can’t reach the bottom menu while betting. The bets themselves are presented in the same way as you are used to, i.e. from left to right the selection, fine selection, the betting offer and the betting slip in a clear manner.
