Breathe a sigh of relief for all CoD fans who prefer to gamble on Sony consoles.
For all Call of Duty fans who prefer to gamble on Sony consoles, there is now good news: The shooter will continue to appear on the PlayStation in the future, according to a statement from the head of Xbox. After it was announced that Microsoft wanted to buy the publisher Activision Blizzard, fans feared that the series would be reserved for the Xbox in the future.
CoD remains on the PlayStation
This is what it’s all about: The takeover of Activision Blizzard is expected to cost Microsoft a whopping 70 billion US dollars. This naturally raises the question of how the company will deal with the purchased brands in the future, including Call of Duty. Will all franchises be Xbox-exclusive in the future? No. As far as the popular shooter is concerned, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has now found clear words.
On Twitter, Spencer shares:
I had good conversations with Sony executives this week. I confirmed that we intend to respect all existing agreements beyond the Activision Blizzard acquisition and would like Call of Duty to remain on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of the industry and we value our relationship.

Thus, the Xbox boss remains true to his line. He had previously confided in Bloomberg that he did not want to pull communities from Sony platforms. If the statement still sounded somewhat vague, there is now at least certainty for fans when it comes to Call of Duty. As far as other brands are concerned, we still have to wait for concrete statements.
Possibly no more annual releases
Another interesting point is that the franchise’s yearly release interval is currently being knocked down to see if it makes sense, according to a Bloomberg report. The article states that high-ranking employees are considering stretching the time periods.
The developers believe this could be good for the community, especially after the weak start of Vanguard. In addition, longer development periods could relieve the team. However, according to Bloomberg, everything will most likely remain the same this year.
We know that buying A/B is a hotly debated topic. Nevertheless, we ask you to always discuss it in a respectful and constructive manner.
