The Battle Royale Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard will soon get a new anti-cheat system. This has been announced for a long time and now the developers want concrete info to follow soon. To this end, they are being combative and warning cheaters of their revenge. However, skepticism still prevails among the fans.
What have the developers announced? The developers of Call of Duty have published a pithy tweet. In it, they threaten the cheaters currently plaguing the game and promise, “Cheaters are not welcome. There is zero tolerance for cheaters. And soon you’ll know what we mean by that, too.”
All of this is topped off with “See you tomorrow.” as the title. By mail, the players received the subject: “Cheaters, watch out!”
Apparently, the developers are planning a big reveal of the long-promised new anti-cheat tools that are supposed to come with the launch of Vanguard in November. The developers apparently want to present their concrete features to the community on October 14.
Developers threaten cheaters, but fans aren’t convinced
Why is the new anti-cheat technology so important? The CoD Warzone in particular was plagued hard by cheaters during the year. The situation got so bad that at some point top streamers, like CouRage or NICKMERCS got fed up and switched to Apex Legends, among others.
There are server problems at times, but EA’s BR shooter was still a tempting alternative that has since outstripped Warzone on Twitch.
Therefore, it is extremely important for the developers of CoD to bring cheating under control.
What do we already know about anti-cheat? In fact, the developers haven’t released anything concrete about anti-cheat yet. We only know that the new technology has not yet been used in the Vanguard beta.
It is possible that the new technology will be a deep software solution that will work similarly to the controversial anti-cheat protection of Riot’s shooter Valorant. Ironically, this is also called Vanguard.
How are the fans reacting? Since the new anti-cheat technologies have been so long in coming and still hardly anything concrete is known, the fans are now skeptical to a large extent and don’t really trust the roast. Therefore you can read on Twitter under the announcement rather negative and dripping with sarcasm news, for which the following is exemplary:
Joa… you don’t do a lot of things right. But congratulations for making it and adding an anti-cheat engine after 18 years. Clap Clap.
Other players also take this opportunity to demand that the annoying Skill-Based-Matchmaking (SBMM) should be kicked out of the game, which is much worse than cheating.
Even a top pro thinks that SBMM should finally be removed from the game, but for completely different reasons.
