It came as a shock to many Call of Duty fans when developer Treyarch and publisher Activision announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 none Single player campaign receives.
The series must evolve
Treyarch has defended the decision to forgo a single-player campaign time and time again. Now Treyarch’s Dan Bunting says, “The most important aspect of game development is being able to adapt. If you can’t look at something you’re doing and say, ‘This thing isn’t good enough,’ or ‘This isn’t what we want,’ and ‘We need to change something,’ if you can’t do that yourself, you’re not adapting. Then you’re not evolving in a way that keeps giving fans exciting experiences.”
By all accounts, a single-player campaign doesn’t fit with the “evolution” of Call of Duty: Black Ops. According to Treyarch’s David Vonderhaar, there were also no plans at any point to make Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (buy now €49.95 ) To give the game a single-player campaign. The team never thought about that.
