Controversial YouTuber #DrDisrespect has been working with a developer studio on his own game – Deadrop. The shooter is said to contain NFT elements, including game characters and skins. One of these game characters seems to have been stolen by Call of Duty: Warzone. After weeks of silence, the doc has now spoken out about it and is truly not pleased.
Dr Disrespect grumbles about CoD developers – “I don’t like them”.
What skin are we talking about? It’s about a figure that is part of the “Founder Pack” of Deadrop. The figure is very limited in the game, so it is already one of the rarest items. On Twitter, a user posted the comparison of the two skins:
The creator of the game character in Deadrop is believed to be Robert Bowling, the studio head of Midnight Society. Similar to Guy Beahm, Bowling used to work at Call of Duty and was a creative collaborator at CoD studio Infinity Ward.
What does Dr Disrespect have to say about this? He was suspiciously quiet and didn’t comment on the topic for a long time. In a recent stream, however, he blurted it out.
He played a few rounds of Warzone with Tim The Tat man and ended up in the Gulag shortly after the match started. DrDisrespect then went on one of his typical rants about Warzone. A game that still fascinates him, but also awakens the worst in him.
It starts with him once again criticizing the visuals of Warzone: “Look at how disgusting the game looks”. Then he suddenly got to talking about the allegedly stolen content:
They stole the idea from one of our concept art. Just like they stole the idea behind one of our characters. […] Bunch of slimy guys over there. […] I don’t like them.
If you would like to see the footage for yourself, you can find a suitable video on the highlight channel “CHAMPIONS CLUB” (via youtube.com). In the first minutes of the video you can see the corresponding scenes.
The discussion is viewed critically by many users. The design of the character from Deadrop is a bit generic, and similar designs have been seen many times before, some users argue under the comparison tweet

By the way, Call of Duty recently had to deal with similar plagiarism accusations. In that case, however, the responsible parties gave in and admitted mistakes in the internal organization: Billion-dollar corporation behind Call of Duty steals artist’s idea for a skin, apologizes for “flawed processes”
