The race for World First Kills is currently keeping many #WorldofWarcraft fans busy. However, the best guilds in the world are stuck with one boss: #Halondrus. He’s kicking the top players into the dust by the dozen. He even stands up to nerfs.
After 357 attempts, #Liquid has finally been able to lay the boss as the first group worldwide. However, other guilds are still hanging on to Halondrus.
Which boss are we talking about?
Halondrus is one of the 11 bosses in Mausoleum of the First, the new raid in patch 9.2 of WoW. In the order, he is usually placed as the 7th boss before the groups then move on to Anduin.
In the currently running World First Race of the new raid, Halondrus is considered “the wall” for the pro guilds. So far, not a single group in the world has been able to defeat him on the highest “mythic” difficulty.
Here’s how the guilds are progressing:
So far, only 9 guilds worldwide have even managed to reach Halondrus. Adding up the attempts of all these groups, the boss has been attacked 1,862 times and still always defeated players. And the number of pulls is increasing.
Halondrus is a tough nut to crack in the Mausoleum of the First right now.
Halondrus is “the wall” – But why actually?
Halondrus can do that:
The boss is divided into 3 phases. In each of them, however, he almost always uses the same abilities:
- The boss shakes the ground with different abilities – players have to dodge.
- Bullets appear and travel towards the boss. When they reach him, they explode. They must be stopped by players.
- With a beam, tanks must hit certain protected bullets so that you can stop them with them.
- In mythical mode, bombs must always be picked up and put down again so that they don’t detonate.
Then in the third phase, the abilities come throughout and it’s a race against time: does the healer’s mana run out first or does the boss die? Or does a mistake inevitably lead to death? So far, Halondrus has (almost) always won.
What makes him so dangerous?
The number of mechanics is already quite high. On top of that, they are also extremely dangerous. A single mistake by any player usually leads to his death or the demise of the whole group.
The group then cannot recover from such mistakes and a wipe occurs. The moderators of Liquid’s stream already said that Halondrus is the hardest “non-end boss” in the whole game. He is even harder than many end bosses.
Even a fat nerf via hotfix during the World First Race didn’t help. Although Liquid and Echo, the leading guilds, are now getting further, it’s just not enough for the kill.
Halondrus is also grueling because groups have to be fully focused the entire time. You can’t even afford to make a mistake in the last few seconds. The professional guild Method has also had to learn this bitterly.
