Blizzard starves players in Overwatch 1 and 2, says expert – eSportsNews eSports Overwatch

Why does compare so poorly to other games like ? At least the professional gamer Seagull recognizes some reasons.

Overwatch is not doing well at the moment. Although the Summer Games are a consolation for a dry spell of content, little is happening in Blizzard’s hero shooter. This is due to the focused work on the successor Overwatch 2, which is slowly but surely killing the community, says ex-professional Seagull.

Who is speaking? Brandon Larned, more commonly known in the community as Seagull, has long been considered one of the best Overwatch players in the world. In the game’s league, he was on the road for a long time and managed to get some successes. Now he’s speaking out about the current state of the game and has very little good to say about it.

What’s the problem? The announcement of Overwatch 2 is now almost 9 months ago. But after the first information around the BlizzCon 2019 quickly returned to calm. There are virtually no more updates to the game. But also the development of new content for the still running game seems to have fallen asleep.

While there is the occasional new hero, such as Echo most recently, otherwise the maintenance of the game is rather poor. Apart from a few new skins in the – Season al events and minor balance changes, the content flow seems to have dried up.

Other games do it better: Seagull gets particularly drastic when comparing Overwatch to other games. There he says something like:

It’s a joke that other games release content on a – Season al basis and we’re sitting here thinking “We’re only getting three heroes this year.” Valorant on the other hand is like “yeah, we have a new hero every two months, we have – Season s, we have Battle Pass, we have quests and story.” Where are we at with Overwatch? (…)

We know it can be good. You just need to bring more content. Bring a – Season al model or regular expansions. Meanwhile, even a model like in Call of Duty would be better than what we currently have. You would get more content.

What exactly will Overwatch 2 look like? Blizzard has been silent for months.

Overwatch 2 is big unknown: On top of that, Overwatch 2 is still largely in the dark. While we know that the game wants to put a big focus on PvE and an extensive campaign, many details are not yet known. PvP fans in particular are worried here that the PvE part will further eclipse work on the current heart of the game – namely PvP matches. Here’s what Seagull has to say about it:

The development has already shown that they are sacrificing some content to create Overwatch 2. Overwatch 2, and most of its development time, will likely go into the PvE side of the game. Why wouldn’t that be the case in the future? (…)

It was already tough in Overwatch 1, so why would I expect it to improve in any significant way with Overwatch 2 now that they’re still implementing a full PvE mode? I have complete faith in Blizzard to release a PvE product…but I’m curious about the future of the PvP portion of the game. Will that continue to be a priority? Because I doubt it will.

But how do you guys see the whole thing? Can you live with the dry spell if Overwatch 2 then becomes really good? Or should Blizzard have organized it better? The two Overwatch parts will merge, by the way …
