Blizzard continues to blithely ban innocent players – eSportsNews eSports WOWTBC

On community platforms like Reddit, reports are again piling up from WoW Classic players who were wrongly banned permanently by Blizzard for using unauthorized programs. So the whole system of the developers continues to work only incorrectly. There is currently no indication that the problem will improve with the release of TBC Classic.

We had already addressed it frequently on buffed: The (automated?!) Blizzard’s ban system works frustratingly unreliable. Again and again in the last almost one and a half years accounts of WoW Classic players were banned for using unauthorized programs, who subsequently claimed to be innocent. In many cases, however, a renewed, more in-depth investigation of the case only took place if sufficient dust was raised on the Internet by the person concerned. After the re-screening by a Blizzard employee, many of the bans were then lifted.

The fact that this issue is still an issue (and will probably unfortunately be an issue in TBC Classic as well) is shown by several new reports from players on community platforms like Reddit. They can be summarized as follows:

  • The affected players suddenly realized that their account was permanently banned. The reason “Offense: Exploitative Activity: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (Hacks)”.
  • The actions that supposedly led to the ban: An extensive fishing run in the Plaguelands, boost runs in Maraudon, numerous tribute farm runs in Bleak Quarry North.
  • All those affected believe that they were reported by some other players – for fun, because they spent a long time in the respective dungeons (and were therefore mistaken for bots?!), because the search for boost-interested people in the chat might have been annoying.
  • The ticket was mostly met with a generic response, “We’ve looked at the case again and confirm the punishment given.
  • Further tickets always resulted in further replies, which were unhelpful. Details of the alleged violation were never provided. Partly the answers from Blizzard contradicted each other. Partly the penalty was changed from permanent to 6 months, but then it was always unclear on what basis this decision was made.
  • At some point, this was followed by a post on Reddit by those affected, which generated increased attention.
  • Lo and behold, most of those affected have since been able to update this post and confirm that the accounts are accessible again and that there was free game time as compensation for the error.
  • Sad fact on the side: while this WoW. (buy now )-While the Classic players are banned (obviously unjustifiably), the same guildless rogues are always running around in the Blackrock depths, the same bot groups of druid, mage, priest are always doing their rounds between Undercity and Stratholme.

WoW WotLK Classic: No nitrobooster (and other ingi gadgets) in the arena

Blizzard bans various engineer gadgets like the Nitrobooster already from the first – Season of WotLK Classic.

From a distance, those responsible seem downright overwhelmed, which is all the sadder considering that Activision Blizzard has had a very successful year – the value of the company is currently estimated at 73 billion US dollars (in the summer of 2019, according to estimates, the value was still at 37 billion US dollars). At the same time, however, we should not be surprised by this if we remember the Layoffs from 2019 or the Closure of the Versailles office remember last year.
