Bjergsen reportedly plans to return as a professional in 2022

A report is turning the international upside down right now. According to an e-sports site, legendary Danish midlaner Soren “” Bjerg (25) is planning his return as a professional player in LoL. And not necessarily for his regular organization Team Solo Mid, allegedly he can even imagine a return to Europe.

This is the situation:

  • Bjergsen has been the best known and most popular LoL player in the West for the last few years. He played in Europe in 2013, then won 6 championships in the US with Team Solo Mid, was MVP 4 times, but never won anything big internationally.
  • In 2020, after a disastrous World Championship with TSM, Bjergsen ended his career at 24, becoming the coach of Team Solo Mid, which he also co-owned.
  • However, things went only mediocrely for Bjergsen as a coach. In 2021, TSM became LCS champions, but failed to qualify for the LoL Worlds 2021 under Bjergsen’s leadership.

Bjergsen back as LoL pro? Maybe even in Europe

This is what the rumor says now: According to the sites Upcomer, sources had told them that Bjergsen, now 25, plans to return to play as an active pro in 2022. When his contract with TSM ends on November 16, he would like to be back in the starting lineup of a Midlane professional team.

It is said that he can imagine playing in the US LCS or else in Europe, in the LEC. Bjergsen has not been active in Europe since 2013, when he played for Ninjas in Pyjamas.

When his contract expires, Bjergsen is a free agent, yet he could see himself staying with TSM. However, it is said that he wants to test the market as a free agent for the first time in 2022.

LoL Worlds 2020: US stars embarrassingly kicked out – And many step on it again

This is how it’s discussed: The rumor has become the biggest topic in reddit on LoL overnight.

The most popular comment there is: “TSM: Thank you POE” – this is a reference to the fact that Team Solo Mid would immediately kick out their current midlaner “PowerofEvil” to make room for Bjergsen.

Does the return make sense, then? Player-wise, maybe not necessarily. Bjergsen probably won’t be able to help an absolute top team in the midlane – and certainly not internationally.

It’s also a question whether he would be better for Team Solo Mid than the 23-year-old German “PowerofEvil”, who played a decent – Season in the LCS in 2021.

In the USA, the first people are already fantasizing that TSM is buying together a super team with Bjergsen, Wunder and Rekkles.

Economically, however, a signing of Bjergsen would be highly interesting for many teams: A signing of Bjergsen would make every team immediately relevant, after all Bjergsen is the biggest name in League of Legends in the USA and also has very many fans in Europe. Surely there would be a team in the LCS for which he would be a reinforcement.

However, it seems very unlikely that we will see Bjergsen in a team competing for the World Championship at the LoL Worlds 2022 – if he really comes back.

Team Solo Mid would certainly have enough money for Bjergsen:
