Biggest wave of bans from Activision – fans do not believe in success

Warzone has long had a problem with cheaters and hackers. Now has banned more than 100,000 players. However, fans do not believe in the success.

Update from 27.8.2021: The Warzone and Black Ops Cold War community has little hope regarding Activision’s big ban wave. One user says that the majority of banned cheaters immediately create a new account. On Reddit he says: “Before, banned players had to buy at least a new account for 50-60 euros to play Modern Warfare. Now there is the possibility with cheat software to spoof (disguise) the hardware and IP address, so you simply change the information in the software and are a different user for Activision. So players who were banned can play again after a few minutes.“.

Name of the game: Warzone

DeveloperRaven Software
PlatformPS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X, PC
GenreFirst-person shooter, Battle Royale

Furthermore, the user points out that Warzone is a free-to-play game and therefore the threshold to cheat is very low, as players have not invested any money and thus the consequences are very low. Many players from the community only see a chance if anti-cheat software from Activision is installed in the games that works on the processor level, as Riot Games did with Valorant with the anti-cheat software Vanguard.

Initial report: Santa Monica, California – There’s no end to it. Warzone continues to be overrun by cheaters and hackers. In the meantime, the plague is so bad that quite a few streamers have turned away from the shooter from Activision. The publisher and the developers at Raven Software are visibly struggling to get the plague under control. Just recently, 100,000 accounts in Call of Duty Warzone were banned again. But does that even make a difference when new accounts can be created all the time?

Warzone: Bans without end – Activision swings the hammer again

On Twitter announced Raven Software, developer of Call of Duty Warzone, announced on August 25, 2021 that it has once again banned more than 100,000 accounts. It is by no means the first wave of bans in Warzone. Such news reaches the fans every two weeks by now. However, such a large amount of accounts has never been banned in Warzone at once. In total, 750,000 accounts have been banned for cheating in Warzone.

A few days ago, fans received the news that this time, banned cheaters in Warzone will actually stay banned. On TikTok, one cheater posted a message saying that his newly created accounts would also be banned. Nevertheless, the problem of cheaters in Warzone doesn’t seem to be solved that easily. According to Raven Software, the accounts that have now been banned are mainly repeat offenders. And that’s exactly where the problem lies.

Although there seem to be some hardware bans in the meantime, which prevent cheaters from simply creating a new account, individual cases are not enough. The publisher from Santa Monica needs a way to ban cheaters from Warzone on a large scale. All the bans in the world won’t do any good if the cheaters can simply continue playing normally afterwards.

Warzone: Banns without end – Activision takes an important step

Hardware bans aren’t the perfect solution either. Just like IP bans, they can be circumvented. Either by spoofing, where the identity of one’s own device is disguised, or by simply replacing the banned hardware. If your hardware is banned, you can simply install a new motherboard and start cheating again in Warzone. What Activision needs for the future is reliable anti-cheat software that gets to the root of the problem.

In fact, an anti-cheat software for Warzone has also been leaked. Meanwhile, Activision has also officially confirmed that this will be put into operation with Vanguard. So there is definitely hope that cheater:ins will be banned more reliably in Warzone in the future. However, this won’t solve the problem completely. As long as there are resourceful hackers who can earn enough money with their cheats, such plagues will continue to exist in such multiplayer games.

Warzone is not the only game that has to deal with this problem. Battlefield 2042 also has a problem with cheaters, and it hasn’t even been released yet. Activision and Raven Software show that they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution. Cheaters are also a real nuisance for the developers in Warzone. After all, they destroy their hard work. If you want to earn your EXP honestly, you can do so with the double EXP event in Warzone this weekend.
