BIG is currently at the top of the table in the Prime League together with three other teams. Among other things, the derby win against Eintracht Spandau is responsible for this.
Simon “Ventair” Tschammer is the top laner of the Prime League team Berlin International Gaming (BIG). Recently, the League of Legends team won the derby against Eintracht Spandau.
A victory full of emotions
The derby Eintracht Spandau against BIG was announced in a big way even before the game started. Both teams offered a live event at different locations, Eintracht Spandau from the Spandauer Bock and BIG from the LVL. In addition, there was again sharp shooting on Twitter from both sides, so that there was even a stream with both team presidents commenting together on the game. So it became clear how important this victory would be to both teams.
That’s how Ventair’s emotional reaction came about. “After the win, I screamed. The first time in my career where I really screamed from the heart after a win because I was so happy. It was a long game. It also took a lot of nerves, but it was definitely worth it. It was a really awesome win,” the top laner says with a smile.
But there seemed to be relief as well as joy. Because the match also brought some pressure with it. According to Ventair, the bot lane in particular found this match extremely nerve-wracking: “Because they’re still very young and haven’t yet been confronted with so many high-stakes scenarios. […] You could see that a little bit. So, they just really wanted everyone to see that they were badass, which they are.”
Eintracht Spandau’s positive influence on the scene
Despite the victory, Ventair has great respect for Eintracht Spandau as an organization. As he explains, “I have to say Eintracht in itself is a really fierce club. So the fan service, how people interact with the players, is just very very nice to see. I had that similar in my first year in ESG when I played with Noway4u, Broeki and stuff, with all the big names in Germany. The fans were excited all the time. You were supported like no other and it’s exactly the same with Eintracht players. That’s what was missing in the scene.”
Ventair is even convinced that Eintracht Spandau could become even bigger one day, comparing them to French team Karmine Corp, which is known for a large fan base that can fill entire stadiums on its own. “I would like to have something like that in Germany, especially with Spandau. I think a lot of people would come. If a Spandau vs. BIG derby was in a stadium, […] that would be very cool and something like that can’t hurt the scene at all,” the LoL pro tells us.
Despite everything the cup remains the goal
Even though the victory against Spandau gave Ventair a lot of joy, he is not resting on it, because in general he is rather dissatisfied with his performance. “I think you can always do more to get the performance you want. From the beginning, I didn’t really want to lose a game in the Prime League, which is of course difficult, but probably also a bit unrealistic. But that was my goal. And now my goal is to win the Prime League, which I think is also very realistic,” says the top laner.
But first Ventair and BIG will have to face E WIE EINFACH E-SPORTS. The next Prime League matchday is scheduled for June 28. You can read about all the games of the day on the LoL Esports page and watch them directly there.
