With the adjustments to its own transfer strategy, FC Bayern was able to successfully sign top players like Sadio Mané, Matthijs de Ligt & Co. this summer. But the German record champion is now also pursuing a new strategy at the FC Bayern Campus to produce even more talent in the future.
The transfer fees in European soccer continue to rise even after the Corona crisis, so that it is becoming increasingly difficult to sign international stars, especially for clubs without financially strong investors behind them. However, in order to be able to continue striving for the really big sporting goals, the club’s own youth development work is becoming more and more important.
FC Bayern has also recognized this development and has been pursuing a new strategy since this summer in order to produce more top talents in the future, such as Jamal Musiala.
In 2019, the German record champion signed the then 16-year-old Musiala from the youth department of Chelsea FC. Musiala was already considered a promising attacking talent at the time and progressed through the U17 and U19 youth teams at the German record champions until he then also made regular appearances for the second team. Musiala has been playing regularly with the professionals since July 2020 and is already an integral part of Julian Nagelsmann’s team. This is a path that more talents from the FC Bayern campus are expected to follow in the future.
Early signing of top international talent
This summer, Munich signed 17-year-old Mathys Tel alongside top players such as Sadio Mané and Matthijs de Ligt. The young Frenchman is considered one of the biggest striker talents in Europe and moved from Stade Rennes to the Isar for almost 20 million euros. In order to avoid these high sums for talented players in the future, Bayern would like to bring young national as well as international top talents to the FC Bayern campus even earlier.
As reported by “BILD” head of soccer Christian Falk, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic has given this new strategy to the campus managers in the summer and already the first top talents could be signed permanently.
Thus, the Munich team has secured two promising talents from Spain in Adam Aznou and Javier Fernandez. The young Fernandez comes on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid and is already captain of the Spanish U16 national team. The 16-year-old Aznou from FC Barcelona is also considered one of the biggest talents at the left-back position. Taichi Fukui, a promising talent from Japan, has also been secured.
In addition to the international market, however, FC Bayern also continues to intensively pursue the German transfer market. With the commitment of Noel Aseko, the record champion was able to secure the services of a talented midfielder. The 16-year-old was reportedly snapped up by the Munich club from Hertha BSC for one million euros. Another Hertha youngster, 14-year-old Yll Gashi, is on the verge of a move to Munich.
