More and more news and rumors about Call of Duty: Warzone 2 are surfacing. Most recently news about features such as forts and extras Pro. Along with the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is also supposed to be released. This game mode is supposed to be completely free-to-play (like its predecessor) and still push the game experience to the next level. Here are a few new features announced by Tom Henderson for Warzone 2, but not yet officially confirmed:
Return of Extras Pro (Pro Perks): Many may remember it from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. You can equip three extras per class, and if you complete certain missions with that extra, it gets the suffix “Pro” and there are enhanced bonuses such as no fall damage. This mechanic will return, but reworked and you can capture these Pro extras in Warzone mode in a fortress.
In some playtests, there were probably pre-made classes that included such extras, according to this, it is not yet one hundred percent clear if you will be able to choose the Pro Perks yourself in your classes.
Fortresses: Strongholds are completely new in Warzone 2, they are supposed to be places spread around the map and guarded by AI enemies. You’ll be able to capture these fortresses or ‘strongholds’ and complete missions on the spot to get your loadouts and other loot, such as the aforementioned Extras Pro or launch series rewards.
Backpack System: Backpacks could be an inventory system more familiar from role-playing games like Diablo or Path of Exile. You have a certain amount of space and each object you want to take with you also needs a certain slot. An example: backpack level 1 (10 slots, 2 × 5) – sniper rifle 8 slots (2 × 4) – ammo 1 slot (1 × 1).
So you could take a sniper rifle and ammo twice. However, if launch series rewards also take up space, you’ll have to start sorting your inventory and possibly leave some behind to pack something better. This mechanic is still in an early stage of development, though, according to a report.
Bulletproof vests/plate carriers: This feature is already known from predecessors and is merely adapted and revised. In Warzone 2 you should have the possibility to find different quality vests/plate carriers. Depending on the quality you can use different numbers of plates. As a result, the vest you wear won’t break, but only the plates, which you can then replenish.
Interrogation function: The last new feature, like the backpacks, is still in an early stage of development. This one is about interrogating downed enemies using a kill animation to reveal the whereabouts of their teammates. The animation so far is supposed to be limited to an injection and last about six seconds.
According to Tom Henderson, the above information comes from a relatively reliable source, but they are and will remain rumors! As long as they have not been confirmed or denied by official sources, you should adjust your expectations and, as with all rumors, always remain skeptical.
