The Imperial Japanese Army, or officially the Army of the Grand Japanese Empire, was the armed force
of the country of Japan after it settled and began to develop the industry. Japan’s rapid rise as a dominant eastern power demanded many raw materials, so the force took over surrounding countries to regain resources. As a result, Japan enjoyed power over the East in World War II until the big crash in 1945, when it was disbanded. The faction only appears in Call of Duty: World at War. Its counterpart on the high seas was the Imperial Japanese Navy.
Call of Duty: World at War
The Imperial Army appears in the campaign in the Pacific missions. The missions consist mainly of vehicle landings on the beach and combat on the high seas. Throughout the storyline, the Americans engage in what is called “island hopping,” which means traveling from island to island to liberate all those that have been colonized by the Japanese. This strategy was also used in real life and in World at War you visit three islands, Makin, Peleliu and then Okinawa, where the fate of the Japanese was finally sealed. In the Black Cats mission, the player also takes on the Imperial Army in the air.
Multiplayer
The multiplayer character models look different depending on which weapon the player uses. The rifleman wears a camouflage suit with a protective vest, a netted helmet and lots of foliage and leaves as camouflage. This is undoubtedly the most effective camouflage on all maps in World at War. The assault rifle soldier wears no helmet and only light armor. A player relying on submachine guns wears an officer’s hat with a helmet and on his chest is an ammunition container for the Type 100. The player with the shotgun plays a high-ranking officer with a cap and uniform. And a player with a light machine gun is muscular but has no cap and wears only light camouflage.
Zombie mode
Dead soldiers are introduced in survival combat through map pack 2, where you fight on the map Shi No Numa (literally translated as Swamp of the Undead). Zombies come running out of the foggy swamp towards the command post. The electric traps from Crazy return, but new ones are also added, plus this is the debut of the Hellhounds. The design of the map is based on Knee Deep. Shi No Numa returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops as downloadable content. Also, one of the main characters, Takeo Masaki, is a former soldier of the Imperial Army.

Info
- The Imperial Army is the only team in Capture the Flag that also has their multiplayer icon as a flag. The Marine Raiders have the flag of the USA, the Wehrmacht has the flag of Nazi Germany, and the Red Army has the flag of the Soviet Union. This is because the flag of the Imperial Army was also the flag of Japan.
- The Imperial Army is the only faction in World at War that does not use a semi-automatic rifle or a rocket launcher in single player.
- The Japanese have a completely different fighting style than their arch-enemy colleagues, the Wehrmacht. Namely, while the latter prefer heavy gunfire, open field fighting, and retreating from enemy fire, the Japanese rely on ambushes, banzai attacks from hiding places in grass and trees, and suicide attacks with grenades.
- They are the first Asian military in the Call of Duty series.
- If you surprise the Japanese and come running from the side, for example, they sometimes fire their Arisakas semi-automatically.
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
