Respawn Entertainment has released the first balance update has been released for the Battle Royale shooter Apex Legends. The announcement and patch notes were shared on Reddit, the changes are server-side and therefore do not require a download for your game.
We have translated the official patch notes below, if you want to see the English original, you can find it on page 2.
Essay: Why the success of Apex Legends concerns us all

Peacekeeper
The reduction of the reload time after each shot by the bolt upgrade has been reduced:

Apex Legends – Video: For whom EA’s Battle Royale is worthwhile
With these changes two of the most popular weapons in the community somewhat weaker, but above all more difficult to handle. The Wingman requires a little more rhythm in its firing frequency due to the higher dispersion from the hip, and headshots no longer mean a quick kill. The Peacekeeper shoots slower with all bolt upgrades and now misses even less.
The patch also ensures that the following abilities and features are no longer available when activated. Disconnection from the server lead to:
- Caustics gas grenade
- Pathfinders hacking skill
- Gibraltar’s weapon shield
- The removal of weapon attachments
- The change to spectator mode after death
Planned balance adjustments for legends
Not only weapons, but also the characters of Apex Legends will be adjusted. However, not yet with the latest update, but only with the Start of – Season 1. The unfortunately still has no release date until the rough window “sometime in March”.
Currently, according to Respawn, all stats indicate that all characters with small and medium hitboxes (hit zones) are balanced. Only the three characters with large hit zones are causing problems: Pathfinder, Caustic and Gibraltar.
That’s why they are currently planning the following balance adjustments for characters:
General
- The hitboxes of Caustic, Gibraltar and Pathfinder are improved and made smaller
Caustic
- Traps: Recharge time is reduced from 30 to 25 seconds
- Traps: Gas radius and trigger radius are increased by 10 percent
- Traps: Delay of one second before the gas cloud inflicts damage is removed
Pathfinder
- Passive Ability – Hacking stations on the map are increased from 10 to 12.
Lifeline
- Supply Packs – No more chance for level 4 armor and helmets (golden)
Wraith
- Tactical ability – recharge time increased from 20 to 25 seconds
Bangalore
- Passive ability – speed bonus reduced from 40 percent to 30 percent
If these buffs and nerfs are not enough, more drastic changes will be made during the – Season , he said.
