What are Spotlight Hours? Every Tuesday, Pokémon GO runs an event of this kind, in which a Pokémon selected by Niantic is in the spotlight for 60 minutes. During the event, you can then find the monster almost everywhere. This always runs from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

In addition, there is a special bonus for you, which is different from event to event. You can use it to get extra candies, stardust, or XP. We’ll show you which Pokémon and bonuses are active during the Spotlight Hours in August 2022 here.

These are the dates: In August 2022, you can once again expect five spotlight hours. These will focus on the following Pokémon and bonuses:

Spotlight Hour on August 2

Which Pokémon? The focus is on the Hisui form of Voltobal. Voltobal is originally from the first generation of the game. The Hisui Regional Form has been around since Pokémon Legends: Arceus and turns the Electric Pokémon into an Electric Plant Pokémon.

What bonuses do you get? For catching Pokémon, you get double the amount of stardust.

Who is it worth it for? Hisui-Voltobal is not particularly strong. Neither in raids, nor in PvP. So the event is mainly worth it to collect a lot of stardust.

Can you catch Shiny Hisui-Voltobal? No. You cannot catch the shiny form of Hisui-Voltobal in this spotlight lesson.

Spotlight Hour on August 9

Which Pokémon? The female form of Nidoran from the first generation of the game is in focus. It belongs to the type Poison and can evolve into Nidorina and Nidoqueen.

What bonuses do you get? For catching Pokémon, you receive double the amount of experience points.

Who is it worth it for? Nidoran (w) is not particularly interesting for PvP battles or raids. However, the last evolution Nidoqueen is a different story. The Pokémon plays in the upper midfield in Trainer Battles in the Super League and Hyper League.

You’ll also have a chance to catch Shinys at the event.

Can you catch Shiny Nidoran (w)? Yes, you can catch the shiny form of female Nidoran in Pokémon GO.

Spotlight Hour on August 16

Which Pokémon? The focus of the 3rd Spotlight Hour in August is the Pokémon Wattzapf from the 5th game generation. It belongs to the types Beetle and Electric and can evolve into Voltula.

What bonuses do you get? For catching Pokémon, you get double the amount of candies.

Who is it worth it for? Wattzapf’s evolution Voltula is a strong player in Super League and Hyper League. There it fights almost at the top of the attackers. If you play a lot of PvP in the leagues, you should get strong specimens.

Can you catch Shiny Waddock? No, the shiny form of Waddock is not available.

Spotlight hour on August 23

Which Pokémon? The focus is on the male form of Nidoran from the first generation of the game. It is of the Poison type and can evolve into Nidorino and Nidoking.

What bonuses do you get? For sending Pokémon, you get double the amount of candies.

Who is it worth it for? This Pokémon family is not particularly strong. Nidoking has fewer uses than Nidoqueen and only plays in the lower-middle of the Super and Hyper leagues in PvP. As attackers for Raids, these Pokémon are also not particularly useful. Use the event mainly to get extra candies when you clean up your collection.

Can you catch Shiny Nidoran (m)? Yes, the shiny form of male Nidoran is available in Pokémon GO.

Spotlight hour on August 30

Which Pokémon? In the final spotlight hour of August 2022 on Pokémon GO, you’ll meet the Pokémon Dusselgurr, which is from the fifth generation of the game. It belongs to the Normal and Flight types and can evolve into Navitaub and Fasasnob.

What bonuses do you get? For evolving Pokémon, you receive double the amount of experience points.

Who is it worth it for? Dusselgurr and his evolutions play at most in the lower midfield in PvP and in raids. So they are not really exciting as attackers. If you want to evolve a few Pokémon from your collection anyway, then the event is worth it to gain more experience points in the process. Shiny hunters can also get lucky.

Can you catch Shiny Dusselgurr? Yes, you can catch shiny goofballs in Pokémon GO.
