Santa Monica, California – Just a few days ago, Call of Duty: Vanguard was released, but Activision and its studios are already hard at work on the next part of the CoD series. According to rumors, it will be Modern Warfare 2 from Infinity Ward – a sequel to the relaunched Modern Warfare from 2019, which revolves around the war against Colombian drug cartels and is inspired by Hollywood blockbusters like “Sicario”, “Traffic” or “No Country for Old Men”. A fresh leak now talks about the fact that Modern Warfare 2 was also inspired by a known great in terms of modes – in this case, however, from the shooter sector.

Where does the info come from? The latest leak on CoD 2022 is currently being published by well-known industry insider Tom Henderson as well as from some smaller, new leakers like RalphsValve spread on Twitter.

Note that even though the leak comes from Tom Henderson, who is considered very reliable and has a good reputation for leaks about shooters, it is still unconfirmed information. So treat the whole thing with the necessary amount of caution.

What exactly does the leak say? According to previous rumors, a secret 3rd mode has been in development for Call of Duty 2022 in addition to a single-player campaign and the traditional multiplayer part – allegedly for 4 years already. It has already been rumored that this mode could be similar to Hazard Zone from the new Battlefield 2042.

In one of his most recent tweets, however, Henderson now talks about the fact that he wants to have learned: this mysterious mode is oriented more towards the hardcore shooter “Escape from Tarkov” than towards Hazard Zone. With the new CoD, they are said to have been bolder and are developing the whole thing with this mode in mind from the start. It’s not an appendage that they came up with after the fact, according to one developer.

RalphsValve hits the same note with his presumed info, but takes it a bit further. According to his info, this new mode is supposed to displace the rudimentary co-op experience “SpecOps” as the 3rd main pillar of the game. The mode is based on Hazard Zone, but has more similarities with Escape from Tarkov.

The goal of the mode is to collect loot as one of 20 to 35 players (solo at launch, later also duos, trios and quads) on different, separate maps and then successfully extract it at one of the exits. In doing so, you are supposed to loot your way through all kinds of buildings like abandoned houses, but also through vehicles, crates as well as corpses. The maps are supposed to offer a variety of settings – from wide open stretches of land to claustrophobic, narrow corridors. If you die, you’ll probably lose everything you entered the map with and everything you collected there.

That’s what the rumors still say: Furthermore, the latest rumors about Call of Duty 2022 talk about a new warzone map with elements from popular MW2 maps, which are supposed to provide nostalgic feelings. If these leaks turn out to be even partially true, it should be really exciting for Call of Duty again in just under a year.
