What is the gag of Sion?

• The undead “juggernaut” Sion has been in LoL since February 21, 2009, he was revamped in 2014. Sion is a tank and is played on the top lane or in the mid lane.
• According to his story, Sion is a former warlord who strangled a king with his bare hands. Even after his death, he must continue to serve his kingdom of Noxus: Sion is a kind of zombie warrior who lunges at his enemies in primitive armor, barely knowing who he really is or once was.
• His passive ability, Glory in Death, causes Sion to resurrect after his death, at which point he can only use boosted auto attacks while his zombie corpse decays and he constantly loses health.

“Kill mobs, hit tower, die, keep hitting tower”.

What is that tactic with him? Twitch streamer Simon Thebausffs has come up with a tactic known as “Inting Sion”:

• Sion focuses on killing the wave of Minions on his lane, then rushes into the opponent’s tower and takes hits until he dies there.
• He then gets back up as a zombie and uses his boosted autoattacks to continue hitting the tower
• He repeats this until he has destroyed the nexus

The tactic is so strange that TheBausfffs was temporarily banned from LoL for it back in January 2021.

What’s so weird about the tactic? Tactics is the absolute first-person tour (via leaguefeed). You follow your own plan, ignore everything around you, don’t help any teammates, don’t engage with your opponent, just play through your game while actually tuning out the rest of LoL.

The tactic is also called “inting” (“intentional feeding”) because it looks like Sion is committing intentional suicide over and over again, wanting to sabotage his own team and actually help the opponent.

This results in an “inting Sion” having a relatively high death rate, often in the double digits, even in games where he wins.

Back in 2020, “Thebausffs” released a video with a great guide to “Sion”, which has since amassed 1.1 million views (via youtube).

He gives as tips that you should wait until everyone is fighting to push your lane – or that you should also interfere in a fight sometimes, as long as you come back to the lane with the teleport.

Why is this topical again just now? Thebausffs has been making news in recent days for exporting his “Inting Sion” strategy to Korea and confronting Koreans with his strange way of playing LoL.

He played his way up to Challenger there on April 24. It took him less than a month to do that. The ironic thing is that he did it with a “negative KDA.”

The statistics from op.gg says: TheBausffs won 58% of his 305 matches with Sion, but achieved a 0.97:1 KDA with scores of 4.9 – 9.1 – 3.9 (via op.gg).

This is what Riot is doing about this tactic now: Riot will reduce the damage done by Sion in zombie form against towers by 50%.

The nerf is already active on the test server.

How does the streamer react? He seems to be amused that Riot Games is changing the League of Legends game just because of him.
