26-year-old DJane and producer Anika “Sintica” F. is a successful, German female streamer on Twitch. According to a leak from 2021, she is one of the top 3 women on the platform worldwide. Now she shows the messages of a person she made donations of 1 euro during a Twitch stream. Users on Twitter find the messages disgusting.
Who is this?
- Sintica is at the forefront of a trend: DJ artists hosting streams on Twitch for hours at a time, spinning music and setting the mood. Especially during the Corona pandemic, Twitch became an alternative to DJing in clubs for some DJ artists.
- The German Twitch scene is dominated by men: with 4.7 million hours watched last year, Sintica is the 35th most watched German-language channel, making her the second most streamed female in Germany. 3 places ahead of her, in 32nd place, is Antonia “RevedTV” Staab.
- In the 2021 Twitch leak, it turned out that Sintica was among the top 3 highest earning women ever on Twitch: apparently, she has many avid and loyal fans who provide her with paid subscriptions (“subs”).
The streamer now shows that: In a July 22 tweet, Sintica shows a history of chat messages she has received:
- One user sent her a total of 8 donations of one euro each within one hour
- Each donation came with a chat message in which the donor makes it clear that he masturbates to the streamer or in which he describes sexual fantasies with the streamer
- Apparently, he relates the streamer’s actions while she is putting on music to sexual acts that are meant to apply to him
“What’s going wrong with Twitch?”
What’s the commentary on this? Many users on Twitter are disgusted by the donor’s behavior:
- “Why the hell do some men always have to be so disgusting? Ew”
- “What platform is that? Twitch? What’s going wrong with them …”
- “So disgusting these people, why do you have to write this to a stranger? I don’t get it.”

Female streamers feel sexually exploited on Twitch
Here’s what’s behind it: What Sintica describes is a phenomenon that hits many Twitch streamers. People treat them as sexual objects and communicate that to them:
The streamer Sweet Anita spoke in April 2021 about feeling sexually exploited because people cut clips from her clips and she is reduced to her sexuality in those clips, even though she did nothing raunchy at all in the actual video. So she said 7 seconds of her butt gets 500,000 views in one day
SweetAnita says: People would purposefully steal her content, then sexualize it in cheap clips. It spoiled her desire for Twitch. The streamer Valkyrae found videos online that showed sexual acts, claiming it was her. Also, there would be entire Twitter channels that were all about sharing photos of female streamers masturbating to.
Another problem with female streamers is that their most successful clips are not particularly cool moments in games, but everyday actions, such as getting up from a chair or leaning forward, just because the butt or breasts seem to be highlighted for seconds during the phase. As you can see from the comments, this is a problem that many users feel Twitch has a responsibility to solve and address. It is true that Twitch has extensive rules on how streamers should behave in front of the camera so as not to cause offense. For viewers, however, there don’t seem to be any rules that have any consequences.
