A Meta in “Chaos”: Apex Legends?

The next – Season of will go live in a few hours! Respawn has already published the official patch notes. Let’s take a look at what’s in store for – Season 8!

Legends will be two years old on February 4. But before that, we’ll be experiencing – Season 8: Chaos. We already know that Fuse will be added as a new Legend, along with a new 30-30 bolt action rifle. But what can we expect in terms of balance?

– Season 8 Patch Notes

Fuse is an ex-mercenary, so his abilities have a lot of :

Passive – Grenadier
Insert one additional grenade per inventory slot. Fire grenades farther, faster and more accurately.

Tactics – Knuckle Cluster
Fire a cluster bomb that creates sustained airbursts on impact.

Ultimate – The Destroyer
Launch a bombardment that surrounds a target area with a wall of flames.

New Weapon – 30-30 Repeater
The 30-30 repeater must be reloaded between shots, giving the rifle a methodical rhythm and the analog elegance of a good whiskey that Outlands’ modern can’t match.

In addition, the 30-30 repeater has a built-in reload that gives players with itchy trigger fingers the ability to deal extra damage with each shot after a short reload time.
The 30-30 repeater allows you to charge shots to deal extra damage. Hitting with it will just feel great!

Map – Royal Gorge
In – Season 8 we are once again making changes to King’s Gorge. The main new POI shows the destruction left on the map by the crashed ship. Players can now explore the area beyond “Artillery”. The dotted lakes replace the slums, and some new lookout towers can be used for reconnaissance purposes or as sniper nests.

New Item – Gold Magazines
– Season 8 introduces the gold magazines. When added to a weapon, holstered weapons will automatically reload after a short delay. Gold magazines have the same capacity as purple magazines and are available for light, heavy, sniper and energy weapons.
This is definitely going to be exciting! However, the gold magazines are only for Light, Heavy, Snipers and Energy ammo types. Shotguns were probably left out for balance reasons.

Quality of Life Updates
Damage counter

We have added a damage counter to the HUD. Since this feature was frequently requested, we are happy to make tracking easier when hunting for badges and challenges!
Ammo pinging

Pinging weapons or ammo in your inventory will display your current ammo next to “Player wants ammo” in Quick Chat.
Colorblindness Update

Healing and resurrection now follows colorblindness rules when the appropriate settings are enabled.
Lore notes on canon skins

Some of our skins are part of canon, others we make just for fun. For those skins that represent an important part of a character’s backstory, we’ve added a little text describing the importance of that particular skin in the life of the legend.
Very cool that Respawn continues to be so responsive to community requests!

Legends
Wraith
Wraith gets a slight nerf by having her hitbox adjusted.

Wraith now has a slightly larger hitbox than other minor legends, but the changes still do her model justice. As you can see in the before and after comparison, we’ve widened the leg and torso area a bit in particular

Rampart:

Sheila angle increased from 120° to 180°.
Wall health in build phase increased from 1 to 45 TP (sniper ammo still pierces it)
Rampart has ranked in the lower range of our performance metrics since her introduction. Her kit is based primarily on actively establishing a strong position, but in a game as fast-paced as Apex, we’ve come to believe that her walls should have some reactive power as well. We are keeping this aspect in mind.
Rampart was one of the most unpopular legendaries. Will this buff be enough to change that?

Horizon
Effective cooldown of Gravity Lift increased from 21 to 25 seconds. The 15-second cooldown timer now starts when “Gravity Lift” disappears.
Horizon was so strong when it was released that it had similar win and pick rates to Wraith. For now, we’ll monitor its use and see if the changed cooldowns have a notable effect.

Octane
Jumping from a standing position onto a jumping cushion, players now describe a high arc (with the speed and trajectory of the old super jump).
When jumping from a crouch, the trajectory is flatter. So players fly lower, but farther in one direction.
Many players may have known Octane’s “super jump,” which was possible with a well-timed jump during cushion contact. After the introduction of the double jump, an input conflict occurred that made it unreliable. We decided to add some jump options that are better defined than the old super jump.
Crypto:

Arc stars can no longer be attached to allied drones.
Loba:

Loot in unopened care packages is now visible with Trained Gaze and accessible through the Black Market Boutique.
Caustic:

All gas now dissipates once Caustic’s entire team has been eliminated.
Mirage:

Mirage’s decoys now produce crotch sounds.

What is actually… “Apex Legends?

Within 24 hours, “Apex Legends” became the most-watched game on Twitch – after one week, over 25 million people were already playing it. What is the battle royale shooter about?

What is “Apex Legends” about?

Scenario: In a distant future, bandits, adventurers, and outlaws settle their disputes in a sporting contest to the death. The setting is a fertile, industrially developed valley on the edge of the galaxy.

  • Genre: Battle Royale shooter
  • Game modes: survival battle between a maximum of 20 teams of three.

At its core, “Apex Legends” is a classic battle-royale shooter: up to 60 players land simultaneously in teams of three on the game map called “Kings Canyon” – a densely built-up, fertile valley with many accessible houses, bunkers and towers. Once on the ground, unarmed players must search their surroundings for equipment and ammunition. The goal of the game is to stay alive until the end.

To prevent players from hiding all over the map and waiting to automatically be the last one left, the game area shrinks every few minutes. The longer a round lasts, the smaller the area where survivors can move and hide.

Apex Legends refreshes this now classic game formula with some ideas that are unique to the genre: For example, before starting a round, players select one of eight heroes, each of which has two special abilities and facilitates certain play styles.

Bangalore, for example, is the classic soldier who can conceal her position with smoke grenades and in an artillery strike in an emergency. The heroine Lifeline, on the other hand, can summon a drone to heal teammates – or directly order the delivery of high-value weapons and equipment via aerial drone. This way, all players can find the right hero for their preferred course of action.

How can I play Apex Legends?

Platform: “Apex Legends” is available for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.

Price: The battle royale shooter is a “Free to Play” title and can basically be played for free on all platforms.

In-game purchases: “Apex Legends” allows the purchase of cosmetic items and new heroes either by means of in-game currency, which can be earned for free in every round, or with real money. The real-money currency “Apex Coins” can be purchased in five different amounts: The smallest possible amount is 1000 Apex Points for around 9.99 euros, while the largest pack with 10,000 Apex Points content costs 99.99 euros.

The developer emphasizes that it is not possible to buy game advantages with the help of real money: You can only use it to customize the appearance of the heroes, it says, or purchase new heroes.

Age rating: “Apex Legends” does not have a youth rating (USK 18).

Which technical terms should you know?

Respawn Beacon: If a player is shot down, the team members who are still alive have the opportunity to bring the fallen comrade back into the game: Each eliminated player leaves behind a so-called Respawn Banner, which can be collected by the players of the own team and handed in at one of 28 Respawn Beacons, certain locations on the map. If this succeeds, the fallen player returns to the game.

Jumpmaster: At the beginning of the game, one of the maximum three players of a team always takes on the role of the jumpmaster. He decides when and where his team enters the game area.

Ping: Using the middle mouse button, players can alert their teammates to interesting locations in the game world or enemies. These pings are a valuable tool for communicating quickly and efficiently within the team.
