Teamfight Tactics is just one year old, but Riot Games has big plans for their auto-battler. The roadmap is here and shows the plans for 20/21: ESPORTS, Set 4, new arenas, Little Legends, new modes and much more. What can we expect? EarlyGame sums up the most important stuff!
You’ve got to hand it to Riot Games – and we really mean that in a positive way – they can copy games pretty damn well and know how to build and run Esports. League of Legends and Valorant are prime examples of how to do it right. Now their little brother Teamfight Tactics is set to join the game. The auto-battler is just a year old and Riot is already planning through 2021. We’ll go through the novelties step by step with you.
The sets
The developers are thrilled with how well the changes were received with the mid-set update (Set 3.5). The player numbers and positive feedback convinced Riot to keep the set releases in this pattern.
Approximately three months after the release of a new set, there will always be innovations through a mid-set update from now on. This will introduce new champions and subclasses and keep the meta alive.
Set 4
In September, Set 4 will go live with a new theme. Accordingly, we can expect the update at the end of December, or in the spring of 2021.
While our ranks will be reset at the beginning of the fourth set, Pengu and his friends will move to distant lands. However, not much is known about the new theme yet. Only so much that we will meet some old acquaintances again and should arm ourselves for battles against unknown kingdoms. From what you can see in the video, the set will have something to do with Ionia, the Blood Moon and the Soul Blossoms.
Watching made easy
With the big Set 4 update, we will finally be able to watch our friends and the pros. Completely independent of Twitch, there should be a showcase of the Challengers and we will get the same option in the friends list as for League of Legends.
New modes
The TFT team wants to give us the opportunity to enjoy Teamfight Tactics in a variety of ways. For this purpose, new modes will be developed that will better suit us depending on whether we prefer to relax, use our smartphones, or tryharden. Exactly what the whole thing will look like, or what the TFT team has in mind, is not yet known. We’ll have to wait until 2021 for the new mode.
Mobile
The TFT app for smartphones will be greatly improved and adapted to the client version for the computer. A match history, performance improvements, chat and patch notes directly to the smartphone are planned. This should allow us to play TFT even easier – when and where we want.
Little Legends
Riot heard us! Buying dozens of Little Legends Eggs to hope that exactly the one you want hatches – 3 times – just doesn’t feel good. In the future, you will be able to buy each Little Legend specifically in the store. You can then upgrade them with Star-Shards until they are level 3. Star Shards can either be purchased with Riot Points or earned over the course of a – Season using the Battle Pass.
This allows us to get exactly the skins of our Little Legend to 3 stars that we’ve always wanted. Finally, we’ll be able to upgrade the Star Guardian Silverwing and our Astronaut Mole Diver to 3 Stars!
In addition, numerous new Little Legends are to be added to the game and our current favorites will receive brand new skins.
Arenas
Not only our little helpers will get new skins. Get ready for a huge amount of new arenas. Not only do they look cool, Riot plans to make them interact with gameplay. The game environment is supposed to react to whether you’re on a winning or losing streak, or whether the match was dominant or close. Riot has not yet commented on exactly how this will look.
TFT goes Esports
The team can be proud of how successful the game has become within a year and how well the community cooperates with the developers. Quickly fixing problems and balancing champions and traits is exactly what Teamfight Tactics is all about. On September 3rd and 4th, a world championship will take place for the first time – the TFT Galaxies Championship with a whopping $200,000 in prize money. With this, Riot is making a statement. The game is young and the Esports scene even younger. But here, too, they’ve got their work cut out for them.
We are really looking forward to the upcoming updates in TFT and can hardly wait for Set 4. When the TFT Worlds are played, the new – Season will surely not be long in coming. We at EarlyGame expect Set 4 in about a month. Until then, keep training and if you need some help, check here:
