At the moment, Riot Games is really flooding us with new content and especially champions. Lillia has already been released, Yone is coming on August 4th and with patch 10.17 Samira will join the League as a new ADC. But somehow everyone is just talking about the rooster in the basket. Riot, what about the girls?
Looking at the recent stats on Lillia and then seeing the kit of the next champion, Yone, some questions come up. Is Riot neglecting the fawn because of the hype train around the samurai? And will Samira get off to as bad a start as her predecessor?
The community is getting more restless and we would like to take up a few points of the discussions here. As in the analysis of Patch 10.16, we will break down the patch notes, available numbers and information for you and evaluate them objectively.
Is Lillia really that weak?
First of all, we would like to say: yes. 42% win rate is weak, no question. But you have to keep in mind that champions always perform a bit worse in the beginning. No one has much experience against or with them. Lillia is no exception, and she’s slowly working her way up – after all, the deer only had a measly 38% win rate to begin with (which is very low even for a new champion).
Her kit is based around playing team fights and damaging opponents with multiple Q’s until you can put the final blow with an R-W combo and your mates. The playstyle is really cool in itself, if it weren’t for the meta…. And that’s the real bad part of Lillia. Right now, fights don’t last long and there’s a lot of competition in the jungle – especially with the recent buffs to Hecarim and Skarner and in general in terms of Kha’zix, Olaf and Fiddlesticks. These are all much stronger early-game junglers that don’t exactly make it easier for Lillia to snowball. That’s why she just doesn’t get rolling in most games.
Riot is currently patching a lot and trying to increase diversity in the meta. Maybe Lillia will become a better pick soon. In our opinion, however, she needs a slight buff – and not even on her damage. A little less cooldown on her E should do the trick. Give the fawn another week or two and we’ll see her at 45% win rate, we’re sure.
Yone, the crowd favorite.
A teaser video and a mini-anime series that tells the story of him and his brother Yasuo. A skin in the new Soul Flower look and and and…. For Yone, Riot planned the very big stage. And the community can’t get out of the hype. In the Patch 10.16 analysis, we already took a look at his kit and discussed how strong he is. If you missed the analysis, check it out here:
If you’ve looked at the kit and the numbers for it, you’ll probably agree that Yone really looks strong on paper. Lillia players in particular complained that Yasuo’s brother was getting a lot more love than the new jungler and that Lillia was being neglected. In fact, the hype of Lillia spilled over to Yone very quickly and she seemed almost forgotten – maybe just because of her weak start. On top of that, she didn’t receive a buff with patch 10.16.
We have to partially agree with the community. Because the trend clearly shows a favorite and the story and kit around Yone are spectacular – you want to learn more and play him. We actually think the focus is on Yone at the moment, but that’s a good thing. After all, he’s still being tested and adjusted if necessary so he doesn’t go live as too strong a champion. We haven’t been able to see him in action yet, and that’s why we don’t want to jump to conclusions about how strong he actually is. But let’s say one thing: the outcry of new “OP champions” has often taken place, but rarely proved true. Yasuo has a very similar kit and is a perfect example with a win rate of under 50%.
And the fact that Lillia doesn’t get a buff yet is because she hasn’t been in the game long, not because of a lack of ambition on the part of the developers. Riot is currently still actively collecting data from all modes and Elo ranges. Once that is complete, the first adjustments will come, I promise. Until then, it’s best to keep training and then hit the ground running!
And Samira?
Samira has only been teased so far. From this, however, you can see that Riot has a large team in champion development and is definitely sticking to their road map. The Easter Eggs and comments from Riot show that Samira will allow for two different playstyles, but will likely be a very offensive ADC.
We could only guess about her kit at this point…. But now to the real point. Yone isn’t even released and yet Easter Eggs are implemented and the next but one champion is announced. Riot can only do that if there are enough developers working on Samira. Everyone who is at home on Bot Lane can look forward to a new, special ADC. That’s our first impression of Samira.
In summary, don’t worry! The Riot developers are spreading their love evenly – and should Yone really be too strong, the first nerfs will arrive with patch 10.17 and Samira.
