After a tumultuous year at Origen, Martin “Deficio” Lynge has found a new home for 2021. The Dane will be at the helm of Misfits Gaming’s European division next year.
Misfits Gaming has announced that they have recruited Martin “Deficio” Lynge as Director of Misfits Gaming Europe. The former gamer and caster confirmed this in a tweet of his own, stating that he will be joining the Misfits organization and hopes that his experience will help the team.
The life and times of a legend
Martin “Deficio” Lynge has been a player, caster and manager for nearly a decade and has been one of the most recognizable faces – and voices – in the European League of Legends scene. He first joined Copenhagen Wolves as a manager before becoming their support player and qualifying with them for the inaugural EU LCS split.
Deficio showed that he is a man of many talents in League of Legends. He participated in the 3rd World Championship as an analyst, moved to a short-lived coaching position, and finally joined the EU LCS as a caster in early 2014. While it took fans a while to get used to his (initially) Danish accent, Deficio’s wit and knowledge of the game eventually made him the star commentator of the EU LCS, often paired with Trevor “Quickshot” Henry. The dynamic duo covered the highs and lows of European and international League of Legends for nearly five years.
In late 2018, Deficio took the next step and announced that he would join the resurrected Origen organization as its general director, as the organization took one of the spots in the now-licensed LEC. Origen had some success, but eventually failed in both Summersplits and never made it to the World Championship, finishing last in the 2020 Summer – Season .
The new home
With Astralis taking direct control of Origen after its disastrous – Season , Deficio was one of several employees to leave the team. At Misfits, Deficio will be responsible for improving the League of Legends infrastructure. However, the organization seems to have plans to expand its reach to other games as well. The new director himself hinted that things are already underway, which he will share with us soon. After a less than stellar 2020, perhaps Misfits will have their renaissance with Captain Deficio at the helm.
