This is the situation: In the final of the LCK on Sunday, 8/28, 2 of the best teams in the world will compete against each other:

• Gen G., they are extremely strong at every position. With Chovy (21, mid-lane) they have a guy in the game who used to carry mediocre teams all the way to the Worlds by himself. With Gen G. he now has a lot of help with experienced players like Ruler (24, Bot), Peanut (23, Jungle) or the mega talent Doran (22, Top).
• T1 is the team around the legendary midlaner Faker (26), who is supported in this new edition of T1 by a brilliant but young botlane of Keria (19, Support) and Gumayusi (20, ADC).
• Both teams have already secured a ticket to the 2022 Worlds by making it to the final. Sunday’s “Best-of-5” series will now decide who wins the South Korean championship.

LoL is a pure ADC show right now

What does Nemesis say about the meta in LoL? Former Midlaner Nemesis now works as a streamer for South Korean team Gen G.. He has seen all of Gen G’s games and most of T1. In an interview with Inven, he gives his team, Gen G., a 70-30 chance of winning the finals.

He says the current meta in LoL is extremely tailored to ADC (via inven):

Because of the current meta, every ADC plays 1 vs 9. I can’t believe Riot hasn’t generated them yet. When the game reaches a certain point and each champ has built 2 or 3 items, it just becomes an ADC show. Every other role in the game has nothing to say. If I had to play any other role, I would be so mad that I had to play that role.

If any other role was so broken, the whole community would freak out. But it’s ADC – so it’s okay.”

So according to Nemesis, the best tactic for T1 to defeat Gen G. would be to either ban 3 strong ADCS or Yuuumi.

He says: Yuumi, Zeri and Sivir are probably the best bans against Gen G. If Lehends, Gen G’s supporter, gets his fingers on Yuumi, he has a 100% win rate anyway.

Hyper Carries on the bot like Aphelios, Sivir, Twitch, Zeri.

How do others see it? In a video interview from the LEC (via youtube), G2’s jungler, Jankos, talks about the “hyper-carries” played in the botlane: He sees here mainly Aphelios, Sivir, Twitch and Zeri. In the midlane, CC characters are more likely to be played, and in the jungle Brusier.

Other active pros like Neon also see Hyper Carrys in the Botlane right now, especially when combined with “Enchanter” supports.

What’s the deal with the meta? The current finals in South Korea are being played with patch 12.4. LoL’s live servers are already patch 12.6, so the meta is constantly changing, but the basic trends often stay the same for a while.
