In Call of Duty: Warzone you can compete in 4 different team sizes. But if you are alone and BR-Solo is not for you, you can compete with other teams. Here are a few tips on how you can still be successful.
What is this about? At the start of Call of Duty: Warzone, players could only enter Battle Royale as a trio. Now there are 4 different team sizes and everything from solo to 4 players.
But many players do not necessarily go as a soloist in the solo playlist. The game is often much more “campy” here and you rarely get the chance to not end up directly in the gulag or scoring after a knockout. If you do go in once in a while, here’s a strong solo setup.
For all solo team players, the warzone offers a “refill” option. So you can also roam Verdansk as a single player in teams and possibly even find new and nice teammates. In order to make a good impression as a “mercenary” and not end up as a team-breaker, MeinMMO gives you a few tips on how to start successfully as a solo fighter with other people’s teams.
Tips for solo fighters – Never be “the stupid random” again
As a random player (Randy, stranger, the other one there) you often don’t have it easy in the warzone. The prejudices and expectations are great and only rarely you can meet the high expectations of the foreign team. But with a few behaviors you can significantly increase your acceptance. These are our tips:
- Communication is everything
- Follows tactics
- Plays defensively and cooperatively
- Packs support equipment
- Take the strangers like friends
1. communication is everything
Consider beforehand whether you want to play with an open mic, mute, or no chat at all. Ideally, you should talk to the strangers in voice chat. But this is out of the question for some players, because it can get annoying, depending on the other players.
But even without speech, Warzone offers excellent means of communication. The “pings” are really good for communicating everything relevant:
- Which way out?
- There are opponents
- Here lies equipment
- I go that way / This way
- Help!!!
In the voice chat there might be some trash- and smalltalk in the quiet mid-game, but the pings already cover the most important things. So if you are on the road with a foreign team, always use the pings to communicate.
But be stingy with your announcements and don’t keep spamming the same pings, or your team may quickly turn away from you.
2. follow the tactics
If you join a team as a lone wolf, don’t expect the rest to follow your instructions. Rather, follow the approach the team is taking and support them as much as you can.
This starts at the jump. Even if the team chooses a landing site that doesn’t suit you at all: jump with the team and fight your way through. And who knows, maybe you’ll find new teammates and really good landing spots.
3. play defensively and cooperatively
Even when advancing in Verdansk and in battles, you are the one who has to blend in. Stay one step back and lie in wait for a revive rather than a kill. Provide security for the team by playing more defensively.
Don’t go into battle first, but look at your teammates’ approach and then help. For example, if a good flanking position catches your eye, try to take it and support the firefight. “Push” your team, keep up and always stay close to your comrades.
Once you revive your first team mate, you are already an important part of the team and the others will pay more attention to you as well.
4. pack support equipment
Build your own loadout for battles as a mercenary with equipment that is helpful, but not as popular.
Rocket launchers, for example, are very strong in the warzone, as you can land easy kills on nearby vehicles and otherwise destroy the warzone vehicles with ease. But they are reluctantly taken because they displace a main weapon. If you have a “PILA” with you and destroy the annoying helicopter that just wanted to turn your unknown friends into goulash, you will surely increase the reputation of their comrades.
The same goes for the Perks. With “Rev Up” (Yellow Perk) you can revive your fallen team members faster. Smoke grenades then help you revive friends safely.
Be sure to choose the “Spirit” perk. While many teams play with Overkill as their red perk, if you end up on a team that uses Spirit, you’ll be prepared. If you’re taking a rocket launcher, you won’t need Overkill anyway.
As grenades, proximity mines are strong. Whether claymore or proximity mine, both help when you hold a position and want to secure entrances.
As a main weapon, you need a weapon that sufficiently covers as many operational areas as possible. The powerful FAL performs very well at short and medium ranges and can hit accurately beyond that. If you don’t like the single shot, go for the Grau 5.56 or one of its alternatives. An assault rifle is best suited here.
Support equipment for helpful players
- Versatile assault rifle
- Rocket launcher
- Blue Perk: Free Choice
- Red Perk: Spirit
- Yellow Perk: Untwist
- Claymore or proximity mine
- Smoke grenade
5. take the strangers like friends
Except for the sometimes rude language between friends, you should treat a rando team as you would people you normally play with. Take a risk to revive someone or scrape together $4,500 to bring one of the strangers back into the game. If you show good will, you’ll often get it back.
Even if things don’t go well for you, but the team still has a chance, don’t leave the match and reduce the chances even more. There can always be a crazy match event that brings back all the players, or the team can sign a “Wanted” contract and bring back the fallen players as well. If you play with your friends, you usually wouldn’t leave the match either.
As a supporter of the team, you can be a great help and the other players will honor that, even if you are not in voice chat together. If you’re new to the role, you’ll get a whole new perspective on the battles and improve your overall performance.
Winning with a foreign team is difficult, but not impossible. If you adapt to the way they play, chances are pretty good that you will succeed in the warzone even without friends as a team.
