3 exciting clues to get on the track of content 2022

In a short video, there were glimpses for 2022 in the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online. In the video, ships in stormy seas can be seen above all. It is not yet known where exactly it goes. MyMMO author MiezeMelli took a look at the ESO map to find out more.

In a video there is currently a at the new chapter of the upcoming DLC. On January 27, starting at 9 p.m., you can be there live at Bethesda’s teased reveal event (via Twitch). But silent waiting is hardly possible in the ESO community.

What hints are there already

There are already speculations on reddit that the new chapter will focus on the Bretons. You can read more about this in the article ESO: New Teaser Gives First Glimpse of 2022 Content – Will Probably Focus on Bretons.

I first wondered, after watching our first article on the teaser video, “How exactly do they come up with Bretons?” Justified mainly by the architecture of buildings and the armor of the person at the end of the video.

The armor could show a Breton craft style. With this, the players from reddit might actually be right. But Breton architecture? That sounds a bit far-fetched to me, for the little bit of building you get to see in the trailer.

1. unknown areas on the Tamriel map give clues

But maybe we can find some hints in the game itself, what will be waiting for us in the upcoming year. For this purpose, I simply took a closer look at our well-known map of Tamriel. There are still some areas there that we can’t enter yet. Somewhere there the next chapter should lead us.

We have one clue for sure: the area is on the coast. You can tell that for sure from the stormy sea in the video and the waiting character looking out to sea.

If we take this hint into account, and if we also take a little bit of the guess from some players that the Breton style can be seen in the video, then the following area comes to the fore:

Below the territories of the Dagger’s Fall Alliance, between the Alik’r Desert and Hews Curse. This area borders the territory of the Alliance to which the Bretons belong, and has a noticeable amount of stretch along the coast on the western side. Or will the next chapter take us out of Tamriel?

What does out of Tamriel mean? Some areas are not in Tamriel and are outside of Nirn. So in a way outside the world in ESO. There are already areas to which this also applies. These include:

These areas are located in the so-called Aurbis. This is the name of the area that does not belong to Nirn and Tamriel. However, it is difficult to find clues here whether a new chapter area will join in 2022.

2nd doodle of the game designers or long thought-out hint on the map?

I’m also very sure of one thing: the ships, or rather the seafaring itself, have a special place in the video. If we focus specifically on that and look at the map again, something else stands out.

In the ocean, you can always find a few scribbles. Are they just there to beautify the map and make the empty ocean more lively, or are they perhaps more?

ESO Tamriel map empty areas marked red

Little ship no. 1

In the north-west, in the corner of the map, you can see a drawing of a ship. However, the surrounding areas are known to us. That’s where the Dagger’s Fall Alliance is located.

Shuttle No. 2

South of shuttle no. 1, also in the far west of the map, another ship drawing can be seen. The next area, which is still undiscovered, is the area between the Alik’r Desert and Hews Curse. Does this perhaps confirm my suspicions?

Shuttle No. 3

A third ship can be found in the north-east, also in the very corner of the map. It almost looks like it’s not quite intact anymore and is partly under water. Maybe the cause was a stormy sea? Below the ship’s drawing is a large unknown area.

East of Vvardenfell and adjacent to Deshaan and Stonefalls is a strip of land we do not yet know. To the northeast of the area are islands we also do not know: a larger island surrounded by two small islands.

Shuttle No. 4

The last shuttle is located south of the 3rd shuttle. The next unknown areas are above the area next to Vvardenfell, which we already named at shuttle no. 3. But there is another unknown area near the ship.

This area borders on Deshaan, Schattenfenn, as well as Dunkelforst and Trübmoor. The part of the area at the level of the ship also has a nameable stretch of coastline.

3rd expedition by sea?

What I personally find very interesting is the beginning of the video. The first view shows a table with a model of a ship. This scene is very reminiscent of how or battles are modeled in advance. The image then transitions to another scene and the model ship “transforms” into a real ship at sea.

Is this perhaps a hint of an expedition? The scene at least suggests it. Because, moreover, the ship is oriented in the direction of an island, i.e. it is moving towards it. Which mysterious island is it?

Another important clue is that the island is covered with snow, so we can assume that we are there in the north of Tamriel. An island that has not yet been named is located north of East Marsh and is also still unknown to us.

Does the new chapter really bring us one of these areas? Or does it perhaps not take place on the mainland at all? What is your guess? Did you perhaps see a detail that we missed? Feel free to post it in the comments, we’re excited!
